...that you know won't hurt you? it doesn't have to be a full blown phobia but what irrational fears do you have? in my case it's heights, actually it pretty much is a phobia, it's pretty intense. spiders with lots of people i know and i also know someone who's extremely scared of cats.

I can't think of a thing that I would call an irrational fear. I have a very real fear of spiders because, if I'm bitten by a brown recluse, I could die in a matter of minutes. So, I'll either get someone to kill them for me, if they're in the house, or I'll kill them myself, although I really don't like getting that close to them. I don't like snakes, hornets, wasps or anything like that but I wouldn't say that I have an irrational fear, not even an intense fear. I think my fear of them is normal, considering they bite or sting.

that all sounds reasonable. fear of spiders is irrational here (because we don't have poisonous ones) but not in other countries, i would guess that's the reason so many people have it.

What am I scared of? I am scared of going to jail. Though on the other hand it might my a great thing. I cannot pay my bills anymore. Maybe when I am in jail, I won't need to worry anymore. I will have no bill problems and be able to eat three times a day. In the winter it will be warm and I could read all the books I want. Actually, my fear is getting less all ready. Sometimes I am afraid I won't be able to survive.

WOW, you got me laughing, I was in a terrible mood today. Thank-you. But, you know it is true. Being in prison you get everything you need to survive. Where as being "FREE" you have to fight to survive. Lots of homeless people will let themselves be caught for stealing so they can stay the winter in prison. The tax payers pay anyway. Who are the losers now a days?

i think lots of people are scared of snakes, and it can be a sensible fear. lots of animals have it too - horses for example can go mental whenever they see something that looks like a snake.

I'm extremely scared of mice and rats. I don't know - they just give me the heeby-jeebies. I know they can't eat me or anything - I just don't like looking at them or seeing them or even just imagining them. And yes, I never liked Chuck E Cheese! Mainly because he's a rat - the poor thing. Now if he was a monkey - then I'd probably enjoy the place more. Hehehehe. Cheers!

it's maybe because they can be pests. you're probably not scared of hamsters and gerbils. i've got two pet rats (don't run away) and most people's reaction is first ick! and then later a very surprised oh, they're sort of cute actually, don't like the tails though..

I have a fear of earthquakes. I'm from the San Francisco area and will never forget the Loma Prieta earthquake. There's just something completely unsettling about the idea of the earth moving under your feet. It seems wrong and it gives me the heebie jeebies.

i've never experienced an earthquake but i can imagine it would be extremely strange and disturbing to feel the ground is no longer stable.
