shall we give money to beggers ?

once ,a girl told me that most beggers are rich ,we dont have to have sympethy over them.i used to give money to beggers when i came across them.but recently,i doubt it .there'are so many ways to make money ,they can at least collect bottles and cans and sell them ,are they really have to beg ?why dont they give out some effert and make their life better?
your opinion?shall we have sympathy over them?

I won't give them money, but sometimes I do feel bad, and I tell them to come with me to McDonalds or another cheap restaurant and I buy them food. That way I know they won't use it on worthless things.

Begging is the easiest way to get some money, but I prefer giving them a job than some money. If they begging for money, but I have much money (rich), I will give them a job, because if I give them money, they will continue their begging. So the best way is giving them a job when they begging for money.
We should sympathy for them, maybe they have low educational, so they only think small and easy way, not like you or other that have high educations, who will find a job.
