Well, I started a post yesterday about the 75 pounds of cucumbers that my son brought in the sunroom yesterday. My blender will only make the cucumbers too juicy and I went to get my slicer and part of it is missing. I have had a gremlin come in and take part of the slicer. LOL Well, I don't know which slicer /chopper will be the best and the cheapest but I have to go try to find one now. All suggestons are appreciated. God bless you!

I know what your saying. I had the same problem and wouldnt you know it the day after the trash man took mine I found the part that was missing. As for a new slicer. I have to say that for me I never use it any more. My family loves it when I slice them by hand. I know so much work and really not worth it but the smiles on there face when they see what I have been doing make all the work so worth while. I spent some time with my Aunt in Tennessee and they can every thing. I learned how to make pickles with my cucumbers and I hand slice them my daughter will comment that there is not one slice that is the same haha. She thinks that every one is a special pickel made just for here. Any way I have used in the past a little slicer called a salad shooter and it actually worked really good and quick and when I bought it several years ago it was under 20 dollars. Good luck and if you want you can send some of that 75 pounds of cucumbers my way. yummy.

I wish I could send you some of these. I'd love to share. I forgot that part about the salad shooter. I had one and tried chopping chocolate pieces at Christmas and must have burned up the motor, it made a terrible noise when I tried chopping with it. I will probably slice my cucumber by hand but I need to chop some to freeze for casseroles, soups and fritters so I may invest in another salad shooter. Thanks for the comment and God bless you!

i think what you need is high quality electric food slicer. you cannot do 75 pound cucumber using manual slicer, when you are tired then you would slice your finger. check http://www.squidoo.com/presto-electric-potato-slicer , this site offers tips on how to choose food slicer (particularly potato slicer).
