subjects?

It seems that this site is all about getting as many people to answer a simple (usually useless) question and in the process 'jack-up' discussion 'earnings' - is this true? If so what is anyone ever going to learn that is of any use or sense?

I have seen many do just that. But I have also notice some memebers actual ask questions after posting some. The posts look more intelligent. Here is an example: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/204748.aspx
