Hi Citychic! I didn't know that bananas were a good remedy for depression. I knew they were good for the degestive system and helped with constipation. You learn something new all the time, don't you? I've always heard that green tea is good for depression. Kathy.

Hi Citychic. I know that calcium is good for bone, but it is good also for deducting your stress. I don't know why. Depression is connected with brain. Banana is for the brain, for stress, i ate it a lot when i was pregnant, so my child now really likes banana. Other fruits she likes, but not always, she kept changing her favorite from apple to orange, orange to melon. But banana, she always likes it. Calsium is also for who has gastric problem. That problem emerged because too much we bear in our mind. So it's concerning stress as well.

I never heard about bananas but chocolate and sweet stuff like icecream for instance gives a persons mood an uplift. I heard the cocoa in the chocolate is the next best thing close to organsm, so I guess it works too.

Anything with Omega 3 is wonderful for battling depression. Nowadays you can get bread, milk, eggs and even cheese with Omega 3 added. Flax is a great natural source of it that you can add into baking, cooking and even breakfast cereal. You can also just buy Omega 3 (and 6) supplements at any health food store or supplement aisle at your local Wal-Mart. In the wintertime I have a problem with season affective disorder and I take D3 and D12 supplements in addition to Omega 3. It helps with my bleak attitude when it's dark and cold outside. However, in the summertime, I find one of the greatest remedies for depression is going for a long walk on a sunny day. The combination of the sunshine, fresh air and endorphins from the exercise works wonders.

I had once been confined to the hospital because of severe fatigue and stress. The strength just left me. A friend dropped by and brought me bananas. I helped myself with one even if the appetite was lacking. I perked up after that. Fruits are indeed miracle cure.
