I don't think you can define success. Success means so many different things, to so many different people. Like the saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", I think the same can be said for how successful one is.

then why do people say that the person by so and so name is so successful!...and not he himself!

for me success is a state of mind. what success is depends on the person. for me success is mainly contentment and happiness. i can say that i am successful if i have a happy family, i am surrounded by friends, but still be able to do what i want which is play music and to leave a legacy in which people will remember me by. others refer to success as power and fortune. it's purely subjective.
