In the olden days, there are only solid, squarish, rectangular hard soap
for taking shower or bath. But nowadays, due to creativity & innovation..
there are so many choices for us - we can choose liquid shower gel too.
Many variants - aromatherapy, antibacterial, fruity - the choice is yours!
So, what are you using at the moment...
need to run to the bathroom and check?
Which want do you prefer, perhaps you can share..why you choose it!!
Thanks and happy myLotting :)

Hi there mylotter..
Eventhough there are so many choices for us, i still prefer the solid soap, and it is a baby soap.:)
Yeah, sometimes i use the liquid soap for the travel or go out somewhere.

Dear shimanaja,
Thanks for your prompt reply. Really appreciate it!
Oh yes, you remind me of this good and reliable brand
called Cussons. I think they have a wide range of baby
products like baby lotion, baby powder and baby oil.
When I was young, I did use this brand of
solid bar soap. It is really mild and nice.
But nowadays, I hardly see it on the shelves of the mall.
All the best, hope to hear your views on my latest
topic of discussion - Weddings, Birthday Month. Tks!

Dear shimanaja,
Glad to hear from you
As per your response, you are using a mild baby bar soap.
That is my mum's choice too. She said baby bar soap are mild
and gentle to the skin. It is not harsh to the skin or make the
skin dry. What brand are you using? My mum using the Johnson & Johnson
brand solid bar soap, but once in awhile she use the Johnson & Johnson
liquid bath gel too.
Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful weekend :)

I like liquid shower gel too, but in the long term, i prefer solid soap. Why? This is because many products like soaps, shampoos, detergents, toothpastes and other products that we expect to "foam up" commonly using this Sodium Laureth Sulfate and its close relative Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Unfortunately, both sodium laureth sulfate and its cousin are also very dangerous, highly irritating chemicals. Far from giving "healthy shining hair" and "beautiful skin", soaps and shampoos containing sodium laureth sulfate can lead to direct damage to hair follicle, skin damage, permanent eye damage in children and ever liver toxicity. Try to check up in your bathroom. I bet almost all of them have this Sodium Laureth/Lauryl Sulfate!!

Dear sulaiziana & celestialbloom,
Thanks for reminding me on this Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
and its equally harmful cousin. I did stopped using
all this products at one stage, but as times goes by,
I forgot about it and start using them again!
Tks again, really appreciate it. Btw, could both of you
suggest some brands of similar products that has less
contains of SLS for the benefits of all the myLotters here!
Or perhaps alternative products that we can consider.
All the best and hope to hear from both of you again!

I too choose to avoid products with SLS! I've read a lot about the bad side effects that these ingredients can produce, and until I swithed, I didn't realize how much they (and parabens) were to blame for so much of my skin and scalp irritation. Happy to see someone else feels the same! :)

Dear Sunil,
Majority of us, we started with solid bar soap since young.
However, due to creativity and innovation - we are offered
with more choices. So, I am now on aromatherapy liquid shower
gel : L'Occitane brand shower gel with essential oils - mint pine
rosemary..very refreshing, indeed very relaxing too
Thanks for sharing, hope to hear your views on my other topics

All the best and have a great weekened :)

Hi Iriene. Since I love variety, I alternate between solid soap, such as Ivory or Dove, and the liquid shower gels...Tone and Softsoap Citrus Shower Gel are what are in there right now lol.
I love the smells of each of these. One thing I have noticed is that the liquid gels rinse from the body more easily, leave it softer, and don't leave a "scum" on the shower walls the way bar soap often does.

Dear Karen,
It is indeed a good idea to alternate between solid bar soap
and the liquid shower gel. I always enjoyed the different
kind of aromatherapy shower gel, it gives a fresh and wonderful
feeling, really makes me feel GOOOD!
You have a very good point there, the bar soap do leaves 'scum'
on the shower wall. Oh yes, I need to scrub the bathroom wall
whenever my sister colours her hair...
Tks for sharing and have a wonderful weekend! (Tomorrow is a Saturday

Dear malpoa,
The solid bar soap is easy to use because we do not
need to press the gel out..or need to open the cover
when we are having our shower. My problem is, the bar
soap always very slippery and tend to slip away from my
hand...lol.
Once it drops, it has a dent on it. Oh yes,
I also like to indulge myself in a bath tub with bubble
bath..., that's call 'Luvury'..
Tks for sharing and all the best!

Hi,
you got a very good point there.
Many fellow myLotters here prefer the liquid shower
gel because of its advantage of being more hygienic
compared to the solid bar soap.
Moreover, the solid bar soap are quite slippery and tend to
slip away from our hands, hit the floor and we need to rinse
it again...sigh~
Thanks for sharing and hope to hear your views on my other topics

Dear Thoroughrob,
Many of our myLotters here prefer to use the liquid shower gel.
Just like you said, it does not leave the soap film. It also
have the moisturiser ingredients to moisturise our skin to make
it supple and soft. Moreover, it is more hygienic to use liquid
shower gel compared to solid bar soap.
Thanks for sharing and do keep in touch!

hmmm...
well, I buy bar soap more..but I do like liquid soap.
though I never really thought about switching over or whatever.
but coming to think about it, liquid might be better then bar soap.
then your not touching your body with the same old soap or one that someone else may have used for their body (husband and kids).
with liquid it would be like new and fresh everytime, untouched.
so, maybe I will switch.
your discussion made me think! lol

Dear Jen,
You have a very good point there. The liquid gel is
more hygienic in that sense. I also did not think of
it. Good job, Great idea...Thanks!
But liquid soap is more costly compared to solid bar soap.
So, look out for sale or promotion with big discount or
free gift...then only worth buying more.

I prefer to use liquid soap and I have several scents in them. I am currently using Dove Cool Fresh body wash. However, there is a new soap (by Dial I think) that it a pomegrante and I know that the bar soap has a better scent to it than the body wash does. I don't feel that the liquid soaps dry my skin out as much as the bar soap.

Dear Carol,
Tks for being the No. 1 responder here at this topic.
I do agree with you, the normal bar soap will dry the skin. However,
with the new innovation, Dove bar soap have moisturiser element in it
to moisturise the skin.
I like to eat promegranate fruit, it will be nice if I have the chance
to try this new 'promegranate soap'...lol

Dear mikeysmom,
Glad to hear from you...
You are using both types for different places.
So, whenever I drop by your house, I can use the
wonderful liquid soap to wash my hands...
Since you placed liquid soap at all the sinks in the
house, it is wise that you buy more during promotion,
or sales where there are some discount...then you can
save some money$$.

Wow, pinkish and sweet avatar, I like it
I am just like you, nowadays I preferred to use shower gel.
I also can't grib the bar soap properly. It never fails to
slip away from my 'butter fingers'...then got dented.
Wow, I must try the tips you shared here.. pressing some of the
bath gel onto the bath sponge to have some foam - can really
feed good ??..Wow, I must try first thing tomorrow!
Tks and have a wonderful weekend!

I prefer liquid shower gel with aromatherapy. Personally, I think solid soap not hygiene,,because (I ever used it when I was child) I often fall it to the bathroom floor and then I flushed it with water then use it again.. The bubble is not as much as liquid too.. Aromatherapy makes me happy and relax.. I usually take a bath in the morning and I need aroma to wake me up..then at the evening when I feel tired,,I need that aroma too to make me relax

I guess this brand must be quite establish and its products must
be of good quality, am I right? Is the price reasonable? I did not
see this brand in Malaysia..but there are one brand also selling
skin care & toiletries products by the name of 'Body Shop'
I am just like you, I also prefer to use liquid shower gel...it is

Hi there!
I prefer a bar of soap, instead of using liquid gel. Reason may be that we are used to it since our childhood and it gives a kind of satisfaction, while rubbing the same on our body. If I use a liquid shower gel, I may not get a feel of it and may not com to know that how much, I've used or how much was required to be used to wash my body.

Hi,
It is true, most of us started with solid bar soap
like Lux, Palmolive and May. It has been for generations
till now. Due to innovation, they too have add moisturizer
elements to make our skin soft and supple. I do use this
solid bar soap for washing hands at the sink.

Nothing exciting just boring ol hard soap. We'd probably have liquid if I had responsible kids who didn't waste one bottle every trip into the tub *sigh* Sad I have to keep shampoo locked up or up high.

I have 3 kids. We live on a tight budget and I can't afford to keep buying a new bottle of shampoo everyday because they like bubbles. Even if I pour a little in for their baths they want the whole bottle at once! I know they are too small to understand things cost money but I figure I'd rather them start understanding earlier to responsible with their things & items we have around the house.
So your siblings ate rocks? I think I caught my middle doing that, she's also bitten off a light bulb off a Christmas tree I have no idea why but norhing happened to her thankfully.

Hi,
How many kids do you have? I think they enjoyed the bubble and
they played with it...kids are kids
I still remembered my mum tell me the story about my 2nd sister
and my 4th brother. When they are a few years old (their age is
different by 11 months only) they will take bath in the bathroom
and played with the soap. Since the bar soap is scented and smell
nice...they eat it up! My mum got a shock when see their mouth
full of soap - sigh -
They are so funny, they even chew pebbles...now as they have grown
up..their stomach are solid, my sister can eat uncook nuggets yet
nothing happen

At first I wasn't a huge shower gel user, but then I came across the cologne fragrance sets through Avon! I still use bar soap, mainly to wash my hands or if I'm just taking a shower to sit around the house! Now if I'm going out, I have to break out the cologne scented body wash; and when I'm done, I can layer it with the deodorant and cologne! The kit usually comes with the cologne spray, aftershave lotion, deodorant and body wash! Right now I have 4 sets, looking to build...

Bingo - another guy who prefer solid bar soap than liquid
shower gel. I noticed guys prefer bar soap - ' my hubby
said he felt more satisfied - 'cleansed better' effect with
bar soap! Do you feel the same? Bar soap is generally better
than liquid shower gel which contain the harmful ingredient
called Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS). So, you are making the
right choice for a healthy body!

liquid. as you said, it smells better because its in a bottle, the smell is well preserved. and its cleaner. even if the bottle falls down, no problem. But the bar falls down, i'd be wincing when i wash it and still have to use it. plus liquid gels are like using fresh soap everytime, because you don't have to use it again and again.
