I wonder if Global warming is still on our leader's mind in times of recession. I haven't heard of new steps taken to promote awareness about climate change. Yesterday I was watching an advertisement that pointed out that recession in US economy affected a lot of other countries but calamities like acute water shortage and weak world food grain output can practically wreak havoc. I wanted ask if we are doing enough or has environment taken a back stage in times for economic crunch. Feel free to post your feedback.

I'm in Australia and our government is still offering all sorts of rebates and grants and incentives for being environmentally responsible. If we buy water-saving mulch for gardens, we can get a rebate on the cost. We also get rebates on insulation for homes, rebates on rain-water tanks for harvesting rain-water and full government grants for buying solar panels or solar hot water heating systems. No matter what the economy is doing, I still want to know I'm doing my part to help the environment. I recycle everything. I have solar panels and a wind generator for generating my own electricity. I harvest rain-water for the gardens. I grow my own vegetables (to help cut back on emissions caused by trucks carting things to the supermarkets). It's not about the money. It's about being responsible.

anything that isn't directly affecting you at the moment is unfortunately very easy to ignore.
