I was bathing my baby everyday, and can't bring myself not observing her every inch of her little body since day 1.. I noticed my baby girl has a little mark on her left shoulder.. a very non-visible mark (lucky) and my brother has one near his nose, but he wouldn't mind..I have one on my left arm too.. how about your child? Does he or she has a birthmark? and if the mark is visible, would you remove it? Do share your views... thanks and happy MyLotting :)

Hi cwong77, Nice to hear that you are bathing your baby with so much love. Bathing is really a fun time for babies if done the right way. My boy doesn't have a birthmark, at least not that I know of. And I hope it will remain that way. But he does have two 'dots' on his head, hair. You know, normally people will have one, but he has two. And some people say that is an indication that he'll be so very mischievous! I do hope that is not true!

I love to see her in the bath, and she will try all ways to reach for my hand, since she try to lick the water off my palm.. see, that's how cheeky can my 5 months old be... and I heard of the 2 dots too on the head, but I also heard that people who has 2 dots are smart too...

Hey submerryn, regarding the 2 dots on the head, it is explained that the kids with 2 dots is more clever than the others. HaHa, your are lucky to have 2 dots on your son's head. He is not going to be a mischievous boy, he is indeed a smart boy. Just look and your profile picture and i can see your boy has a smart LOOK! You stay well and happy Mylotting. Cwong, hope you enjoy your time with your baby girl. And your baby girl is so lucky to have a good mummy with so much caring and love.

Both of my children have birth marks. My son has a birth mark on the back of his head near his neck, as does my daughter. She also has one on her arm as well as mongolia marks that have all but disappeared on her bottom. My husband is Italian so she got that from him.

Yes, the true birth mark is inherited. Everyone in my family has the birthmark at the nape of the neck. Mongolian marks are marks the baby has at birth where pigmentation did not distribute through his or her skin. This is mostly found on children of European descent. The marks usually disappear by the time the child is five. Sometimes the marks will stay through life, but it is rare.

My son doesn't have one. At least I haven't caught any. I have one on my leg. Just a little round brown spot. About the size of a dime. Its not real noticeable thankfully. My sister has one. Its a red mark on her boob. Dont know if its still there but remember it as a child.

My daughter has a birthmark near her stomach. It is quite a big piece of birthmark, like a size of an local strawberry. It is red in color when she was a baby. When she grow older and older the birthmark went faded and now it is just an invisible mark. The other day I was digging out some baby photo book. Happen that my little girl saw some baby pictures and keep asking me who was the baby. I told her that she was the baby and she could not believe what I tell her. Maybe she never think of she actually grew from a baby. Then I show her the birthmark in her stomach and point to the picture, the baby in the picture also have the birthmark. Ha HA, she then realized that she was the baby girl. So it is good to have a birthmark? It is just like a trade mark...

Hi cwong, I never thought of good to have a birthmark. But you give a good point. Sometimes a birthmark can get to recognize some one. Just a dear friend of mine has twin babies. She can recognize her own babies easily. But for her mom, she sometimes need to go for the birthmark to recognize who is Kor Kor ( elder son ) and who is Di Di ( younger son ) . As for my daughter, she is so cute. She keep asking me the little baby in the photo. She is wondering why mummy carrying a baby but not her in the photo. Ha Ha. After I tell her about the birthmark on her stomach, only she can recognize herself. But guess what, she said that birthmark is a strawberry, LOL. She then asked me why there is a strawberry on her stomach.

I have a few really small birthmarks on my body, almost "freckle-like", and they have gotten less visable over the years. Well, I happened to notice that my older daughter, who is under 2, happened to have a small freckle-like birthmark on her leg! lol I was like OH NO, NOT LIKE MOM! lol I happened to have one on my hand though lol. Well, my second daughter was born, and just recently I've noticed a darker "freckle-like" birthmark again! I can't believe BOTH my children would have a small birthmark like mine. BUT my second daughter actually has hers in the same exact spot mine is! lol I would definitely not get them removed because they are so small and completely adorable. If they had one that was really thick and dark adn covered a large part of their body then yes I would get it removed.

hmfryklund, oh that must little cutie dots ya.. and yes, if it's not visible and small, no point making the child go through the agony. and yes, nothing more happy if we find out that our child is like mom like daughter ya..

Hello cwong77, I have a birthmark at the right place (hidden place) *laughs* and so, I don't have to worry about it! My son doesn't have one and so does my husband. If only my son has one that can be seen clearly from afar, I think that is good. At least, people can recognize him easily as long as the birth mark is not that ugly to look at! *laughs*

This is an odd one, but it is very true. All my father's children had a birthmark on the back of their neck just below their hairline. Crazy right? What's even crazier is all his grandchildren have had the same birthmark. Both my children have this birthmark too. As they have gotten older, it has become less visible but they do still have it. Weird, huh?

My son never had a birth mark, so I was surprised when my daughter was born and a day or two after she was born a red strawberry mark appeared on her back, right in the middle of it...granted in the hospital she was always swaddled up and the nurses gave her the bath because I had a c-sect and was recovering so they gave me as much rest as I could get. When we got home and I had the her doctors appoint set for the next two days, I was still in alot of pain due to the c-sect so I didnt do much again with bathing her, just wiped her down with a soft cloth and it was at the doctors office that we noticed it. After that, I showed my mom later that day when she came over and she said I had one exactly the same on my stomach and by time I was one it was completely gone... my daughter is 19 months now and hers has faded alot!!! its still there, but mostly faded... I am curious if hers will go away too! Its strange that she got one and my son didnt.... I think about this alot!! Happy mylotting.

My boy don't have any birth mark. Birth mark indeed is a good personal indicator too and I don't think we need to feel embarrass on it, for some it is one of the unique generic sign to the family. I have a guy friend, got a big patch (thumb print size) of birth mark right in the middle of his forehead. He has a handsome look somemore and I don't think the birthmark spoilt his charm. I did ask him about it ans he said he don't mind it at all and not ever think of removing it.

lemonjude.. thanks for responding.. and yes, just like my brother, he don't mind having the mark near his nose and to him, it's a very significant mark for him. He always says that if it's not the mark, he wouldn't be able to know how he looks like..

i dont have any mark from birth and my children either. It is depend on how big the mark is. I heard my grandma said if the baby has a mark from birth... sometimes her previous mom gave to remember her or something like that. that's old people saying and sometimes I do believe and sometime I dont The baby is still small and it might be gone once she grows up

Hi, cwong. My baby does not have any birth mark. I have one on my right thigh, but not really obvious. IF my baby would have the mark, i would not remove it unless it is TOO OBVIOUS that would make him low-esteem. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

Both of my children have a birthmark on the back of their necks, they have a large red patch. I also have this same mark as do many of our cousins and aunt/uncles. It is a genetic birthmark to the best of our understanding. For my son it is fairly obvious as he is a boy and we keep his hair shaved very short for the most part. On my daughter, it isn't obvious at all, but either way it doesn't bother either of them.

dorannmwin, so you mean that birth mark is also inheritance? I just wonder how it happen...I think for a boy, it doesn't matter lot, but for a girl, if there is a patch of 'darker' skin, it will be some disturb too right..
12 Aug 09
My daughter doesnt have any birthmarks but she does have a funny dimple on her butt which could kind of be classed as a birthmark i guess as its something that makes her unique. I have one on the inside of my left calf so i was suprised when she didnt have one.

My daughter has what I refer to is out Families Trademark...lol....she has the strawberry birthmark on the back of her neck. It isn't visible unless her hair is up in a ponytail or not. I have to say that even if it were in an always visible spot there is no way that I would have it removed. I believe that to be ridiculous.

dbabcook.. thanks for responding.. and yes indeed, it's not easy to remove birth mark since it's part of the skin.. and it's Ok.. a cute little patch for your girl, and I don't think it's necessary to remove it..
