I have receive a alert message about tagging. It say, We have noticed a rash of poor tagging as of late. As a reminder, tags are to be used to indicate the topic of a discussion and nothing else. Misuse of tags is grounds for account termination and will not be tolerated. For more information on tags please read our FAQ.
What is this is all about?
Have you ever receive a letter like this from mylot?
I always put tags related to the topic but sometime i make some typos.
Is my account is subject for termination?

Everyone received the Alert. It is because of people that go around putting insults in the tags like if the discussion is about how someone is mad about their car, then another member reads the discussion and responds, but instead of putting a word like "vehicle" they put something like "quit whining" or "shut up" that is what the Alert was about. People abusing the tag system instead of putting relevant tags. As long as you use the tag system properly your account will be fine.

Tagging inappropriately
Thanks for making it clear for us olydove. Some of us need things to be broken way down to the molecular level. I imagine that sometimes mistakes are made by us all from time to time when it comes to tagging. Hopefully this will be nothing more than an alert for us all to become a little bit more vigilant about what we are sending out. I suppose that every site must have their rules or else how can we all expect for things to run smoothly? If my discussion is kind of a personal nature I usually won't tag. That way nothing can be pulled up. Happy mylot!

No problem at all CC and thanks for the BR. There are many things that I myself have a hard time understanding unless they are basically spelled out for me LOL with this situation though it was easy for me because I had made a discussion once that ended up being tagged with insulting tags. Also when browsing around I would see other discussions with insulting tags as well so when mylot sent out the notice I knew what they were talking about.
I'm glad I was able to be of help and I wish you a great weekend :)

Well i also received the same message and it gives me a ring - never again put add tags for other discussions.
Maybe i may also had to minimizes my own tag discussion to two only. That would lowering the probability of my account being terminated. Plus not to misspelled the tag words.

I'll tell you the same thing I just told someone else who just asked the same question. This comes from a problem we have had here lately. People have begun using the tags for attacking other users, insulting and demeaning them and harrasment. If you are not one who is doing this, than you have nothing to worry about. Something people need to remember here on Mylot is mods are EVERYWHERE, even if you don't see them. I found out a while ago after one of the admins hosted a question and answer thread last year, that mods are hidden, we don't know who they are, how many there are and when and where they are active.

I also just read about it today, i haven't been on mylot as much as I wanted to. I have seen the kind of tags that are way out of topic and most of them are malicious, as though it was making fun of the topic/discussion.
I rarely put tags on any discussion unless it was me who started it, sometimes I do though when I see that I can add a relevant tag to the discussion.
I think typos are safe enough, and so is your account.

I have also received the same alert message and this is first time i got it. I thought i am the only person who might have received but your discussion gave me some peace. That might be common message for all. I also use tagging in most of all my response as well as discussion and it is varied according to my answer not different than content. About account termination i am not sure.. Happy Mylotting!!

At first I thought that it is the need of placing a tag every discussion started or responded too. But I guess it should not be a problem for us who are using mylot based on the terms and conditions and we are abide to the right way of not violating this site.

Wow,after reading so many responses I have calmed down a lot.I have also received this alert and I am puzzled about this.I don't think I misuse tags and I even do not know what kind of behavior is called misusing of tags.Maybe it is just a alert sent to everyone and let us be careful when we add tags.As long as we are friendly to each other and obey the rules here, there is nothing to worry about.

Maybe what they trying to say it is also important as much as the discussion is

If you are not doing anything wrong then I don't think you have anything to worry about, it is just a group e-mail sent to all members. I feel confident saying this as I have only just signed up and the first message I got was the one about tagging and obviously I had not even written anything yet, let alone tagged it!

I have noticed this and it was sent out to all, not the idiots who put mature content when there is not necessary to do so, or the ones that put silly and ridiculous tags. I do not think they worry about tags, but I did hear from another discussion that someone was putting tags relating to s*xual activity and perversion on innocent subjects and I think that rather irritated myLot quite a bit.
And it would make me upset as well.

from what I read, this alert is sent to everybody.
I put tags but they always represent the discussion or response.
there are tags on my discussions that have nothing to do with the content and someone else put them there
If mylot deletes my discussions because somebody else does it
then I guess it's not worth it to be on this forum site at all

This is an alert from Mylot, so I think everybody received such kind of notice today. I also put tags all the time. But now I am a little worried about it since who knows whether the tags I put are proper or not. Perhaps it is better to leave the tagging blank?

I tag them with my own name just so if I go back in I won't have to tag them again, but no more Dawn tags. lol
There was a bunch of flaming tags posted last week targeting certain users, I'm sure that's why they're watching it.

I read that in an alert from mylot. I myself never tag but I believe they are thinking not typos, but when you write a tag meaning to target a person, or a situation, another form of harassment I guess. I am not sure and they did not send an example either...
