Do you give money regularly or occasionally? Or do you contribute in other ways? What charities are the ones you prefer to support?

We aren't ususally able to give financially, but we do like to give of our time. We are actually trying to find some good volunteer opportunities we can do as a family with our children this Holiday season.

Sharing your time and skill is every bit as valuable as giving money. That sounds a great idea to have a holiday which also gives a little in some way to the community or to those who have less advantage.

I will occassionally put a little bit of change in those rattle tub things but not much else. I couldn't make a regular donation even if I wanted to but the charities I prefer to support are children's charities and cancer charities. I also would rather give to a local charity or to a charity where I know my donation is actually going to the cause.

Exactly my feeling. Local charities don't get as much exposure, so I think they deserve support.

I can't afford to give much, but I do give. The Paralyzed Vets drop off a big bag at our house every few months and then come to pick it up the next day. They make it really easy to donate clothes, books, etc. and I always find stuff to give them. Also, there is a Big Brothers, Big Sisters Bin outside at the mall, easy access. I drop stuff off there now and then. I also sometimes donate to hospice ,cancer research, lymphoma research because my sister passed away from cancer,(lymphoma) and the hospice people were great to us and to her. I can't give a lot financially, but every dollar counts and it makes me feel good to give. I like to be the one who decides who I give to though, I don't want anybody bugging me about a donation.

I give every year to the British legion on the poppy apeal, the other charities I support are the RNLI and Anthony Nolan & MacMillan Nurses. I have a charity credit card for Anthony Nolan and every time I spend on the card they donate to the charity. I think it is great because they benefit often and I do not have to think about it. I do not give to the "tin rattlers" in the street as they annoy me, it is just a form of begging. One thing I look at before giving money is how much of my money will get to the people that need it. Some charities have such a high % going out in administration.

I do give when I can. I prefer to give to cancer support, and the heart association.Another good cause is local people who are sick and people trying to raise money for medical help. I am working on making hats and other warm items for the homeless. I want to donate them to a local shelter.

It's wise to make sure that the collection tin is genuine and that the person collecting has an official badge.

When I was working always had money taken out of my check to donate to charity. Now I find other ways to donate, sometimes with money, sometimes with food or other things.

I do give to charity, not a lot, and not a lot of charities either. I like to donate to the local food bank. I never give cash, I buy the food and donate it. I don't trust anyone with cash, and I would hate for the money to be pilfered. I support the food bank because it is a basic need for families in my area. I think other charities are good too, but the food bank needs to be filled first, so people can at least feed their families.

I give a lot of my time. I do a lot with girl scouts as I have 2 troops and do extras all the time. I give clothes, food, toys, etc. all the time as I do not have time to have a yard sale. I give change to causes all the time. I donate to a local Christen radio station at times. I use goodsearch.com to do searches, and every time I do Girl Scouts Of Moccasin Bend gets 1 cent. Our troop does at least 5 community service projects each year. I believe that helping others is part of being a good person and a good Christin, So I do as much as I can. I also wish I could do more.

I donate regularly on my church depending on how much money I have or can afford. aside from that, I did give out a helping hand to those who is in need of a shoulder to lean on. I also donated old clothes and toys for the vitims of typhoons or any natural disaster. If ever I have enough money, I will donate to charity that funded street children or orphanages. I always have a soft heart when it comes to children.
