Which movies is more preferred by you? Your local movies or Foreign movies?

As far as my observation is concerned. I could really think that most of my Filipino moviegoers prefers to watch foreign movies. In your own country, you have your own local movies producer which starring your own local actress and actors. What movies do you go after your own locals movies or movies done by foreign producers? Would you go to watch movies understand by you in your own languages or one being translated or watch the movies because it is popular? In my own country, the people watch movies mostly foreign offers interesting stories, with special effects are impressive and captivating. While local movies being watch are very familiar with the setting or the background of the scenes and when it comes to technical production is quite not yet advanced. How about you, Which movies you prefer to watch, your locals movies or the foreign movies?

Because it is now expensive to watch in theaters, every time I go there I will see to it that I am satisfied and my money is worth it, so I go for foreign films because they offer challenging stories and everything from the technical aspects are great and amazing.

Foreign films and the technical productions is more advanced compare to the quality of movie film producers in the locals movies. having limited resources means less quality to offer.

I like watching foreign movies much more. Because usually the cast is attractive. Besides, the special effects are better. And therefore I like to watch foreign movies even if I have to understand it by watching the subtitle.

By merely watching movies made from other countries it looks like we already know their cultures by watching it and we could identify the casting and the background which is not likely found in your places..

I would rather watch local movies. I cannot understand what the foreign movies are saying and I hate reading the dialogue at the bottom of the screen also. I also hate it when they are speaking foreign but it is made into English but their mouth is not moving in English.

Me too, I love to watch foreign movies if they are in English or with sub titles. But if purely foreign movies even the story is good, I never watch and fell bored just watching the scenes without understanding the languages being spoken by the artist.

i dont watch local movies. i dont know why lol. on foreign films i watch only the ones i know i will learn something from or a story that i know i never watched before on other films. i am not a love story movie watcher i only watch something cool and new and the funny ones that i know i will get entertained and i will laugh out loud.

I watch few locals movies which I find of good quality and what really annoying some locals movies are simply copies some ideas from foreign films. But their are few good actors and actresses. Then, the locals movie I watch are from past history of the country such as during war during the historical times of the Spanish, Japanese and American invasion. Then, the foreign movies amaze, because the background are not familiar to me, the celebrities and the story itself is meticulously crafted to please the viewers..

It depends on many factors. Firstly, the subject of the movie. Secondly, Its relevance to myself and my culture. I like Asian movies and I have seen a few French movies too. There are some movies whose themes I don't understand. I like watch all the good movies no matter of their origin. happy lotting

By watching all kinds of movies from foreign to locals movies, you could see the cultural differences and despite of the language barriers. You could learn from it and some even have stories about different themes which any movies fan will bothe fine entertaining..

yeah, both foreign and locals movies have values and they are the way for us to know each other cultures and understand from the movies being watch not only to entertain but to teach us some morals values and the differences between different themes as reflected in the story.

I am more interested to watch Foreign movies, it is not that I am not patriotic, but some of our local movies are full of drama, they are all made by the gay directors so the story turns out to be gay too. I am not saying in general, there are some movies which still have quality, but because I don't like the artist I don't go and watch it. I like foreign movies, feel good movies to be exact. I don't like drama because I am a cry baby. i understand english movies, but if the movie is from other asian countries Like China and Korea its okay as long as it has an English Subtitle. I think Filipinos are modelling foreign countries with their film. I want the original one. Why does our movie in the 80's are more good in qualities than now. The only movie I had watch that I really enjoy is Tanging Ina and that's it.

I prefer to watch local movies. Yes there are wonderful movies in our local language. I don’t have much time to watch movies but when I watch I prefer to watch our native language movies. My second preference goes to our national language movies. I had watched foreign movies too but not completely so I can’t give my opinion here.

Locals movies is best understood by the citizen of a country where they have difficulty understanding watching foreign movies without sub-titles and they may find it not enjoyable to watch even how good the movies is that is why a subtitle in any languages should be used before other countries watch the movies. having to watch local movies signifies you are being proud of your own local movies it symbolizes nationality and loyalty to your own country.

I agree with you that most of the people in this country would prefer watching foreign films, including me it seems. It's really nothing against the local film industry but when it comes to story lines, graphics, among other things, the foreign films are indeed more advanced. Also, most of the local films are very predictable and sometimes too exaggerated like heavy drama, cheesiest romance, or silliest comedies. It's sometimes good to go for the extreme but when it's the usual offering, then people do get used to it that the thrill of a movie is lost.
I do watch some of the local fantasy and romantic movies. I have to say that in terms of the special effects, the local film industry is progressing. Slowly but surely, they're developing to the level of advanced foreign films. But the local films being offered are usually heavy drama and that's really not my thing, so Id opt for a lighter foreign comedy, or a locally made fantasy film.^_^
