Did anyone see the meteor shower last night?

I was rather excited at the prospect of getting to see the second meteor shower of my life. I tried Tuesday, but we got thunderstorms all night and then every time I checked last night I couldn't see anything. It was partially overcast, but not completely.
I'm rather disappointed. I wanted to go out and set up my tripod and see what I could get (even if it was just a brief video), but looks like that isn't happening. :(
I wanted to see it partially, too, because I think they're absolutely amazing!
Did any of you get the chance to see it? What did you think?

I got to see the meteor shower last night, as in my area it was very clear and with no light pollution or city lights. The view was amazing and beautiful, I wish everyone would get to see it, but in some areas the Perseids are hard to see.

You're very lucky. We were out in the country last night in the open and I kept checking every once in a while to see if I could see anything, but there was nothing at all. :( It's really a shame. I was looking so forward to seeing them. It was clear as a bell out, but we didn't have any meteors last night (and I was up most of the time when it said were the peak hours).

I read on the article last at night, however here too, we are unable to watch due to heavy rain.. we had thunder stome the whole night.. which make me wonder was it due to the meteor shower too.. I miss that myself too.. however don't you think this year we have lots of stuff happening? from the eclipse and now meteor.. just make me worry some times..

Sure, we have a lot happening, but things like these happen in cycles. The meteor shower is one that happens regularly and we track it so that we know when it hits. It's not anything that's uncommon or anything. ^_^ In fact, this is one of the most regular meteor showers that we know of, or so I've heard. :D
but I know what you mean with some things seeming to be pretty wacky lately.

I know, cloud cover and storms made viewing it hard! They had it on the news that the best nights for viewing would be Aug 13 & 14th. So that would be today and tomorrow night. I think last night was just the very beginning of it, so tonight will be a lot better. We're setting up my tripods tonight. I'm lucky, I live in a farming area so there aren't any outside lights to mess with the view of the sky! I've been lucky enough to see it a few times in my lifetime, so I'm real excited to see it again. Try tonight and I'm sure you'll get to see more (no clouds or storms...or so they say lol)

Oh really? Darn. When I read an article, it said best days were Tuesday and Wednesday to see it, so maybe I was just reading the wrong source?
We live in a pretty suburban area, I think, but my grandparents are only about half an hour away and they're in a rural area. It's really much better for stargazing and such. :) I might think about going down there tonight just to see if we can maybe see anything.

It's really easy to forget things like this. I think the last time it happened I forgot and I routinely miss lunar eclipses because I forget they're even happening. xD The only reason I remembered this one was because I just happened to be awake and on the internet and my email is through yahoo, so it was an article on the front page that reminded me.

phyrre, it was cloudy here in Washington too so we weren't able to see it. I don't know if it will still be there tonight. The sun is shining right now so hopefully it will be clear tonight. and yes, they are amazing. I'm humbled to see all the beautiful things God has made for us to look at from the beautiful birds to the scary crocodiles!

I agree, it really is a humbling experience. I think I was about 8 when I saw my first...and last...meteor shower and my parents let me stay up late specially for it. Plus I had a telescope, so messing around with that was kind of fun, too!
I'm not sure if they'll still be there tonight. I heard it was only Tuesday and Wednesday, but I guess there's always a chance. Wouldn't hurt to check either way.

Oh, you really should! They're quite spectacular and they're really a wonder to see. Breathtaking in every definition of the word! I would recommend checking your sky tonight just in case. :) If you've got a good camera it's definitely a photo opportunity and if not, it's just a really good opportunity to see something you wouldn't normally get to see.

I really did want to go out on the back deck and see what we could see, but it wasn't meant to be. Instead, I ended up at the hospital emergency room with my husband who had a kidney stone that was on the move. It was ashame to miss the meteor shower as the only one that I've seen in my life was right after my husband and I met each other and this time it was just a couple weeks after our fifth wedding anniversary. But, having my husband with me is much more important than a meteor shower when it all comes down to it.

Wow, that must've been a scary experience. I hope everything's ok with your husband. It's a really crappy thing to have happen at all, especially on the night of a meteor shower. But I agree with you, it's most definitely better that you have your husband around than be able to see it. ^_^
I think it would've been really sweet if you had been able to. Like a sort of anniversary gift from nature. :D
