Health Care Reform Gets More Heated

A man was turned over to the Secret Service today for holding up a sign at a townhall meeting that read, "Death to Obama". I can understand that sorta. I guess. But, the sign also read, "Death to Michelle and her two stupid kids". That I really can't understand. Are you all so fired up that you wish death upon the children of the president? With all of the stupid crap that Bush did, I always liked his wife, and although I never really seen his children in public, I didn't dislike them. If you go to the link at the bottom it will take you to aol and currently they have a poll on there for readers to give their opinion on whether the sign goes to far or it's fine, 21% of the readers thought that it was fine. I'm shocked with you pro-overpopulationist that you are fine with killing innocent people/children or insinuating that they die. So is this exactly what you wanted? Any thoughts about the insanity of these protesters? http://news.aol.com/article/man-holding-death-to-obama-sign/617150?icid=main|main|dl1|link6|http%3A%2F%2Fnews.aol.com%2Farticle%2Fman-holding-death-to-obama-sign%2F617150

This is bad. The guy is probably a vocal anti-abortion protester also. Protect the un-born but kill the living...maybe not though it seems it is often the case.

I love the way you guys are inventing his persona and political alliances. You're claiming he's probably anti-abortion and all this garbage, and subsequently making judgments on your fabricated claims when you probably don't even know the moron's name much less his stance on specific issues.

That literally makes me feel sick to my stomach and I'd say that no matter what President it referred to or what party, color, race, religion or anything else he happened to be! For ANYBODY to say this is OK makes me lose my faith in humanity, even if it were only 5% or 1%!!! This "person" - and I use that term loosely - should be jailed for a long, long time, in my opinion. There is free speech and then there is outright HATE speech. Hopefully the idiot with this sign had no real intentions of trying to carry out those threats but there are people - again, an overstatement - who are sick and evil enough to act on it. I heard yesterday threats on the President's life have increased by over 400% and yet funds to the Secret Service has been cut. I don't even think the latter should be reported but it's sure frightening, isn't it? Annie

"Taskr, I'm sure the above won't be good enough to convince you since the source is CBS, right?" The source for your claim isn't really CBS Annie, it's Kessler via an unnamed source. CBS did their due diligence by making that clear and also making it clear that the Secret Service completely denies his claims pointing out that they gave him correct information which he ignored in favor of some unnamed source. So do I have a problem with CBS as a source? Not at all. What we're left with is determining who we trust as a source, Kessler's unnamed source or the Secret Service. I don't know about you, but I'll take the Secret Service over some unnamed source any day.

you forgot part od the article annie.... "The Secret Service says Kessler's allegations aren't true. "The Secret Service assisted Mr. Kessler as we would any author writing a book about the agency," the denial states. "We provided briefings, on the record interviews and accurate responses to his numerous questions. However, Mr. Kessler chose to base his criticisms of the agency on unnamed sources whose motives, knowledge and experience level remains unknown" Now, lets say this IS in fact true, hwy, if Obama's democratic coligues are so concerned with his safety, would they have CUT secret service funding back so drasticly? Just seems strange.

This "man" absolutely crossed the line, both legally and in decency. He broke laws and now will have his day in court for it. As vile as he is, what will be just as vile (in the way of decency, not legally) will be the people who try to compare us all to him. That will be a lie.

Someone also needs to investigate to see if this guy is from a pro Obama group trying to make those of us who don't support this bill, or universal healthcare look bad.

But, you know Para he will plead insanity and he will end up like that guy that shot Reagan. Which I know you can't compare the whole Reagan Brady shooting to this but, it still upsets me that flith of a man gets to have more freedoms after all these years. We need to do anyway with that whole insanity plea but that's another discussion and another interest. Oh, and by all means investigate the man and do it with a non partisan or bi partisan or whatever makes it so it does not have only people that support or detest Obama. I hope you know what I'm talking about because I know what I want to say, I just don't know what it's called.

As far as the poll goes I take that with a grain of salt.. I dont believe that 31 percent of them poll acutally think this. I would say foul play to make the repubs look bad. I will sit on the bench with this but I would not be suprised. He should be jailed with the a conspiracy to commit murder, those words are war words. Even in the regular population you hold that up saying something like that to a typical citizen you will get arrested. Never mind to the president and his family. That person was definately off the wall what was he/she thinking. What they get they deserve. Oh and if McCain was in office and this happened I would also say the same thing as well.

I think that they did the right thing turning him over to the secret service. Something like that is totally uncalled for. You can take the freedom of speech a little to far. I am also shocked that the people of this country would think that something like that is ok, what is this world coming to. I might not always agree with everything that is going on, but i would never wish anyone any harm like that.

I have to say that maybe morally this man was wrong. However, legally there should not be a problem. There is freedom of speech however, it only seems to apply to some people not all as well as some subjects. It seems that if you dislike the president and his family which I do not understand his family, you must keep your opinions to yourself. I think that since we give free speech to all organizations and citizens that are not even legal citizen of the US that this man has a right to his own opinion. I may not agree with his views or how he expressed them but I do not see why he should be arrested and treated like a criminal for expressing an opinion. I have listened to hundreds of people bad mouth Bush and other polititions as well and they are still walking around. I know that my post will not be well taken but that is ok because this is my opinion as well. When you say it is ok for illegal immigrants to protest and say what they want why would you be upset when this man holds up a sign. When you have a President who has no idea of the facts in the case where a black man was arrested in his own home by a white police officer, and makes racial comments on television about the case. Well that is ok too. You can not have free speech for some and not all. You do not have to agree with the persons views but he has a right to them just the same. You do not even have to like him personally but they are his views. Maybe the only thing in this world that we really have that is our own is out point of view. I personally do not like the President but that is my opinion. I also do not like politicians in general and it would not bother me if they all fell off the face of the earth. It is not really personal just my opinion. Politicians have gotten this world in the mess it is in and they are not trying to fix the problem just put more money in their own pocketbook. Again just my opinion.

Most states have laws about freedom of speech such as yelling fire in a crowded public place, it cause panic and infringes on the rights of others safety. It's just a fact of life that we have to give up certain aspects of our freedoms to be able to live a safe life. You say that you have seen people bad mouth Bush, I have done that myself but, I never once said that he should die. If I threatened to kill you and your family if you have one, than I would be arrested. It's just laws that keep us from being anarchists. It seperates us from the caveman of long ago. I suppose that if you are ok with threats than you are right, there should be free speech for all. And, since everyone can be free to say whatever they choose than we should just do away with all the laws and not be bothered funding our police and national defense because there's really no point if we aren't going to give up a basic freedom of threatening others when they pi$$ us off. But, those are just my opinions and probably no one else's.

I can't want to see how many of the republicans who attacked David Letterman for going after Palin's kids, speak about this. I noticed tonight that every poll on AOL's political site wasn't leaning to the right, it was falling over on the right side (except for the question about Palin which was almost 50 - 50).

"If letterman had said that about ANY of my daughters, even my 27 year old, my first reaction would have been to smash his filthy jaw up in to his skull." I get that, my husband would say the same thing about our 39 year old daughter. However, neither of you would be accusing him of being a child molester or a rapist. Annie

Two things. First, Debater.... the poll, if you are going to give credit to an internet poll one can vote in a thousand times if they want, I got a piece of tropical paradise to sell you in the white mountains. Second...Zeph...It doesn't matter WHICH daughter he thought was there, it was someone's daughter, period, reguardless of age. If letterman had said that about ANY of my daughters, even my 27 year old, my first reaction would have been to smash his filthy jaw up in to his skull.

It's a shame that Obama and the, "let us force our health care bill down your throats," democrats have made some people so angry they would make such an unfortunate statement. Of course, one has to wonder if it was a plant to make the protesters look bad in the eyes of the undecided.

I don't about the politics in your country but do not be bother enough because as I watch on Television networks your president looking into the benefits of people therein. Don't blame the president he only works for your good. If you cannot help your president and always angry on him. What happen in your country...that called a country of good hope. As I remember president Kennedy speech if I am not mistaken, says; "Don't ask the government what the government do unto you but ask what you can do to your country". Please correct me If I am wrong... have a great day!

You're very close. I agree that Obama is really trying hard to fix the US's broken systems. The health care costs in this country are so high that someone needs to help those that cannot afford to pay. We are a great nation but, not if people are dying because they couldn't afford to go to the dentist to have a tooth pulled. Have a great day!

Just understand the President, aims in improving and fix all Bush administration failure in the Government. President Obama, is unfortunately seat as President in the mid of US economics crisis and he is not blame for that failure in the Government of last administration. He is lucky enough because all US diplomatic relations that is cold in the time of Bush, is now back and many countries of the world today wanted to tie up with the US government for business and trade relations that sign of the future economic growth in the United State of America, in the future. That is why instead telling more silly things to the current President, help him to boost the economy not downgrade him because it will not inspire him to do what is really good for his countrymen... If you always ask that for your President, I you must be in power as President and what you feel about for being burdening the entire country? more power and have a great day!

But threaten the president, no matter who he is, or what he's done? Ah... no. No don't think so. Who really knows but, I doubt that Obama has any "union thugs" since unions want employees to have their health insurance so they can collect the money. And, if it was an infomercial than of course viewers would only see the good points. When was the last time you turned on an infomercial and the spokesperson said, "this dicer is a waste of money and you should really just throw your money in the garbage rather than buy this"?

Carson, I remember the 2004 election, and Geroge W. Bush had all of these rallies around my area except that big cities. They alway wouldn't just let anyone into the political rallies, you had to get a ticket, and the only way to get a ticket was to go the local county Republican Party head quarters. You also had to be a registered republican. So it looks like the democrats have learned from the republicans on how to win elections, and move their agenda.
