Apocalypse in 2012??

I just watched Nostradamus 2012, and I must admit I was a bit freaked out. My understanding of this whole 2012 thing is that, come December 21, 2012, there will occur a galactic alignment of the sun. Now the effects of this astronomical movement are either negative (catastrophic damages or..end of the world?) or positive (a "new world" - whatever that means, but I do really hope for this one). Nostradamus's lost book which illustrates odd drawings tells us some kind of a warning, that whatever imminent, horrifying things will happen to this world in the future, we have control over it since we have a choice, its in our hands..everything is up to us. Are we going to continue destroying this planet (as evidenced by the depletion of natural resources, etc..i cant name them all) or are we going to act now and start a worldwide restoration of all damages we've done. Is it possible? I don't know. What's your say?
