How long have you ever gone without eating?

I have been on The Master Cleanse for 4 days, during which I have eaten nothing but the designated lemonade, and the senna leaf tea, which is also a par of the cleanse. The first 6 or so days will probably be hard for me until then. This is mostly because my family is vaguely disapproving and try to tease me by cooking or buying my favorite foods unexpectedly. I have stayed strong until now, so wish me luck for the next few days to help me get through this!

Oh no, i can't possibly survive a day without eating. I'd just die. Seriously. I have ulcer and I am not supposed to miss a meal or if i'm hungry, i should eat. So not eating won't work for me.
But good luck with you, though. Hope you get through. :)

Thanks! But you guys are giving credit where credit is definitely not due! Really, I am eating, in a way. The liquids that I am taking in are enough to sustain me and detoxify my body....your health problems do exclude you from doing certain things and I am glad that you take the limitations of your body into consideration!

a warning to you both please do not let friends who are diabetic go on these cleansing things as it would cause them to go into comas and could led to their deaths.

oh never! people with any type of physical infirmity or illness, particularly when it deals with food, should never go onto programs like this, even as much as i believe in them...

The longest that I have gone without food, for religious reason, is 3-4 days. I do think body cleansing through fasting is an excellent way to rejuvenate your body and rid it from many of the toxics from the environment and the foods eaten. It is important to watch your potassium level when fasting, especially if you are just drinking just water. Senna is a bowel stimulant and will cause a diarrhea effect. I am not sure it is safe without a doctor okay to be on this kind of diet for a long period of time. After the cleansing it is important to go slowly introducing the body to solid food again. Good luck and be true to yourself, done give in to temptations.

You are really knowledgeable about this sort of thing, and you have the benefits and concerns down pat. These possible problems are the reason why the Lemonade needs to be mixed properly, one should drink from six to twelve bottles a day, and why one should keep themselves hydrated with plenty of water.

I think I cannot survive for more than a day without food. I am do eat twice a day only. The longest time I have not eaten was only for one day. I do hope that you will stay strong and be successful in what you have started.

Unless I forget to eat before I am away from food, I naturally eat lots of small meals over the day whenever I am hungry. Though when I am attending other sessions of classes besides the really flexible summer session, I usually only eat dinner since I would be late if I ate breakfast and I don't have time to eat lunch between studying and researching/freshening my notes before classes. And thank you very much!

I get sick when I only have water to drink! Actually, the plan is free. Some buy it to get more in-depth instruction and help, but I have been doing it since I was fifteen so I am fine!

The cleanse does make you more mellow, and for some, it makes them very unhappy. That really doesn't go for me! I feel really light, but not insubstantial, like a being that is above worldly pleasures and desires. I hope that doesn't sound arrogant, but that feeling is what has gotten me through the process every time. And thanks!

I tried to have a fasting last Holy week but I can't survive. My reason is for detoxification I'm going to think about it to do it again maybe next week. My mother is going to the province so I'm only one left in our house it is the best time to do it because no one gonna tease me and tempting me with the foods I like. I want to cleanse the toxins in my body.

Yeah. You should definitely do that. My family has been irritating and disconcerting me with the smell of my favorite fast foods and homemade meals.

I have fasted for 7 days. For the first few days I took only water, since that is what I did when I had fasted before for a shorter period. The last few days I took some juice and clear broth also. The purpose of the fast was to pray. It had nothing to do with losing weight or detoxing.

I have done religious fasts, but I haven't done any since I came to the U.S. For some reason it is much easier for me to get sick here.

What I am having is nutritionally balanced and able to sustain the human body when mixed properly, so I would call it liquid food more than I would call my behavior "going without eating". And thank you!

The longest I've stayed without any food or water is 4 days. I grew up on a farm so there was always times of famine. But sometimes famine was so bad that we had no money no nothing so for four days. I remember that my sister got gravely ill because the water was not fresh water and we literally only had grass and sand.
Anyway good luck with your cleansing ritual.. Hope it pays off whatever you are trying to achieve.

Yes, we do this for a month in every 11 months. It is actually a religious custom to do so. But we do not restrain from food completely, we eat small proportions aftr dusk till dawn. we do not intake anything, solid or liquid till dusk. This helps the body get rid of all the toxic and brings a glow to the face.
All the best to u.

Thank you! This sounds like a detoxifying fast, which my people do also. Is that what your people call it?

The purpose of the fasting is to increase the self control and be a better person. By fasting, we restrain ourselves from food, any worldly pleasures, bad mouthing, getting into fights. One of the benefits of this fasting is that we will know the value of food and think twice before wasting it...It does detoxify your body, helps to low down your temper...
It is called ramazan, the month of fasting for followers of Islam.
good day

The longest I have ever gone without eating is 5 days. I have been considering the Master Cleanse but I am very unsure as to whether or not I can drink the lemonade concotion only. I am too hooked on my 2-3 cups of coffee in the morning for one. Any suggestions? How is the lemonade?
@alexzizi123 (307)

I just add enough lemon juice for it to overpower the other flavors. People say that the maple syrup is what gives you energy, but the amount of lemon juice in the lemon is the difference between my looking like a zombie and looking like i am not doing anything different! And the senna leaf tea isn't bad, unless you can't stand tea or coffee without sugar...the saltwater is...excessive and a bit gross so i just have to steel myself for that....

Hunger, well severe hunger is very painful and detrimental to your metabolism so I try to avoid starving myself, but I cannot avoid it when I am bone tired or when I forget to eat...

If this works out for you I want to see the results! I have gone 2 days without eating, I don't know if I could do more, but with patience and stability I think I could go longer. So what is this Master Cleanse? I keep hearing and reading about it but I have yet to try it. Is this something that makes one lose weight? I have to ask. Perhaps you can give me some insight on this. I think you can do this, keep it up, don't let them tempt you, don't fail! YOU can do this! I wish you the best of luck!

I could never go that long without eating or drinking anything of substance! Even water wouldn't be enough! Anyways, the master cleanse is a detoxification cleanse where you drink a lemonade comprised of cayenne pepper, fresh lemon juice, and maple syrup, a herbal laxative tea (I drink Senna Leaf), a sea salt/water concoction, and water. You should drink 6-12 bottles of lemonade a day, depending on how active you are, and one cup of tea/1 quart of saltwater, one in the morning and the other in the evening. And thanks so much for the wish of luck, and I really don't doubt that I will stay strong now!

My dad did that once, and I was going to, but I was going through a tough time and decided it probably wasn't the best idea for me right at that moment. It seems like it's really tough, but totally worth it.
The longest I've gone without eating was 3-4 days when my mom was moving over a week's time and my room got moved last, so I was still staying in the old house by myself and I didn't see my family because they were packing while I was at school and then at the new house when I got home. And I didn't have any money to actually get something and my mom took all the food over to the new house.
I'm sure there was more I could do like ask someone at school for a bite of their lunch, but after you go for that long with nothing, it's hard to just jump back into eating again because you feel so sick that nothing sounds appetizing.

Wow. I keep hearing stuff like this where people didn't eat ANYTHING for 2-4 days. I couldn't even last one. I can stay on the cleanse because the 'food' sustains me and leaves me without hunger.

I went a day and a half- non intentionally. I was in a program that was tough and every chance i got (in terms of free time) i would always sleep instead of going to eat.. so as a result i didn't eat for almost 2 days straight and I don't think ive ever felt so miserable and weak in my life when i finally dragged myself to feast.. it was so hard..but you said that the first 6 days?.. how long do you plan on not eating for?
@alexzizi123 (307)

14 Aug 09
The program should last at least 7 days, but I am going for 10 days to get the full benefit of the detoxification. That happens to me too! I have more than one job, and I attend school so when I have free days I mostly sleep the whole time. This leads to me not eating for the whole time I am asleep, then maybe forgetting to eat for the short time I am awake. It is a horrible feeling to wake up that hungry, you are definitely right about that!
