Let's see, Michael Vick's career has consisted of playing college football for the Virginia Tech Hokies (with the "HokieBird" as a mascot); pro for the Altanta Falcons; Cockfighting; Jailbird; now playing for the Philidelphia Eagles!

I am sure that you already know Ted that I am a huge animal lover and animal rights activist, and I am not a violent person, really I am not....but there are a lot of really painful things that I would love to do to Michael Vick.
I don't buy his remorseful crap for one second, he is only remorseful because he got caught. I know that is cynical, but the things that he, or his friends so he says, did to those dogs was so horrible and disgusting, I hate that he is already out of prison. Like so many others, I would love to lock him in a ring with some angry pitbulls, or electrocute him, or shoot him, or do all of the other despicable things that happened to the the pitbulls that were in his fights. I also hate that the NFL let him back in, what example are they setting? I am pretty sure that they let that one drunk driving player who killed someone back in too.
Needless to say, if the Eagles play the Raiders or the 49'ers ( I don't know if they will, I don't watch football so I don't know how it works), I will try to get seats so I can have a big sign in protest of Michael Vick, I know that it won't change anything, but I know that people are going to forget what he did, but if I can, I will remind them what a disgusting jerk he is.

He doesn't need to be remorseful, he's done the time he was sentenced to do. He now has the right to pursue his chosen career. Since his crime was not related to the rules of the NFL, the NFL isn't out of bounds by allowing him to play, and the Eagles team isn't out of bounds signing him.
That being said, the rest of us also have our rights. If you choose, you are within your rights to speak out against him, picket Eagles games, send emails, write in blogs and her at MyLot.
Everything short of crossing the line into harrassment or "really painful things" :~D

How do you know that he hasn't done time for other things related to the dog fighting? Do you have a pet dog? Do you realize that sometimes dog fighting runners steal dogs, and use them to aggrivate the pit bulls and let the pit bulls rip them to shreds. So please, yes he has plenty to be remorseful about.
And boo freaking hoo if it seems I am harassing him with a sign to remind people what he did, I seriously cannot believe that you are defending him Ted, new low for you.

Being from Virginia, I was a HUGE Michael Vick fan. Our high school football teams even briefly passed--though didn't play--at a VA banquet. He was a star at Warwick when they moved the downed schools there. I followed his college career and had high hopes for his pro career. It's almost like hometown pride in a way.
Dog fighting is also part of the "culture" here, though that doesn't excuse it. I've seen the vicious things and I've met people who do it. I have no respect for them. I rescued a dog once before they fought her. A tiny, 5-month-old puppy was set to go in as a warm-up for Black, an 84-pound fully developed male Staffy.
Disgusting! A buddy of mine talked the guy into giving her to me. She was losing the fight for her food in the cages, so they had decided to give her a farewell party in the form of a brutal killing via the top dog.
It's a disturbing thing. In time, society will forgive Vick, as will I, but when it comes to representing America or any of its respective cities, and being a role model for children, Vick shouldn't be anywhere near a field.
Tomorrow, I might change my mind. The next day, it might change back again. But right now, I say no! lol

EEK! My joke fell completely flat, it wasn't cockfighting, it was dogfighting!
The image still works, it would just have to do with the caption...
"Michael Vick Up gives up the dogs, and fights with the birds!" :~D

Not your fault. I read "Michael Vick" and "contract" in your discussion and those keywords prompted a mini reflection period.
But Vick's c0ckfighting is none of my business and something I don't need on my mind! :P
It may have helped him out in prison, however.

As was already said he did his time, and the NFL has the right to re-hire him if they so choose. To me the story is how differently celebrities are treated than the rest of us. I guess we don't bring in the kind of money for our employers that they do. If any one of us gets a felony we are lucky to get a job flipping burgers!
