We have popsicles all year long for my son... doesnt matter how cold outside it is he loves his popsicles!! He just took out the last one and I am going to have to get some more. Although I dont keep ice cream in the house...too much of a temptation and this way when we go out to have it --it is more of a treat for us than just something that you can get in the freezer every day.... Since I will be home most of the weekend, due to my yard sale and its going to be warm I am considering getting some just for the weekend for the kids and if I want to induldge myself (I will get me the low fat kind--which I like) this way my kids wont feel bad about staying home all weekend. 0 D0 you keep ice cream in your house?? Is it something that you eat once a week, or is it a treat every once in a while??

In the summer months I'm going with my wife and kid for a walk every weekend and we're always buying some ice cream. We're also buying ice cream in a supermarket but not so often (maybe once for 3 - 4 months). As you've wrote it's treat to go out and get some...

it really is a treat to go out as a family and get it... that is how we do it mostly and then we also are making memories too with it instead of just getting it out of the freezer. thanks for the response and have a great night!

Well I like to keep ice cream at home as I can have it as comfortably as I wish. I can have ice cream when surfing the web or while watching TV or reading books! You can't do all this in a restaurant. But when I have friends with me, I'd prefer to go to a restaurant! Happy mylotting!

this is true, something you cant do when you are out... and with all the flavors out there you can get any kind that you can basically get while you are out too... thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

I keep ice cream, pushups and popcycles for my granddaughter....she is lactose intolerant though so I have to buy special ice cream....however her Bryers Lactose free vanilla just rocks so it's sometimes hard to keep out of it.....

that is so nice you keep it on hand for her, and being lactose intolerant you do have to have the special kind and I am amazed sometimes when I try those... they are pretty good... a friend of mine, her daughter is allergic to peanut --anything peanut, so when she gets anything new she has to call the factory directly --she has come across some really good deals too. thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

oh yeah, why go out if you have it at home... I think that is why I dont keep it at home that much... I mean the popsicles are all year round, but those my son goes through so fast...LOL Ice cream is definitely a treat we do when the days are really hot... although since we will be home most of the weekend due to the yard sale.. I did get some ice cream as a treat for us--with it being in the house I bet it goes fast!! thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

Going out solely to have an ice-cream has never happened to us. Depending on what’s on offer, I buy tubs of icecream and keep them in the fridge…so we can always have some ice-cream whenever we feel like. But that does tend to get expensive so sometimes I’ll just buy small individual cups. At other times I’ll stand on my balcony and buy ice-cream from the ice-cream man going thru the streets…that is more fun, I think.

hello bookreadermom08, We only buy ice cream like once a month and during special occassion. Our kids are prone to tonsilitis that's why. They like to eat ice cream but don't like them to get sick.

Yup, I often keep ice cream in my fridge; my favorite kinds are the cornettos, especially chocolate and vanilla with crushed nuts!

Sure I keep ice cream in the house I love ice cream and every now and then I buy a big bucket and store it in my freezer so when I'm in the mood for a yummy treat I can grab it out of the freezer and scoop it into a bowl or cown and gulp it up hahaha.

I really like ice cream. However, we do not store it in our house because of my sister. She would just have it all to herself. That is why we usually go out to have ice cream as a treat.

I use to always keep some type of "treat" in my freezer. Typically it would be ice cream bars or popsicles. Very rarely did we have a carton of ice cream in there. Now that we've moved we CAN'T keep ice cream in our freezer. It's really quite depressing. But apparently the "newer freezers" can't keep ice cream cold. It's weird but that's what the tech told us. Our first grocery trip here we bought ice cream bars. I went to have one a few days later and it was all melty (after having been in the freezer for a few days.) I guess that's good news for my waist......... LOL

I keep low fat sherbet in the house all the time and I eat it once a day. I feel like it helps with my calcium intake. I occasionally like to get ice cream from McDonald's. Like I said, that's just occasionally, though. I've been told that their ice cream is low fat. We used to have a Dairy Queen here in Jasper and every once in a while when I would go off of my diet, I would eat out there and get one of their ice cream desserts. They went out of business not too long ago and I really miss it. I mean, we had a Dairy Queen for 100 years, I guess, lol! That's an exaggeration but it was here for a long time, ever since I was a child. Kathy.

I have heard that about mcds ice cream too...that weight watchers says if you are going to go out for ice cream have it at mcds. I love it as a treat and on special occasions but I do try to keep that to a minimum... thanks for the response and have a great night!

Thank you for the best response again.I am happy to say that we have a new Dairy Queen in Jasper now. This one is called "DQ Grill & Chill". It's just up the highway from where the other one was located. You can imagine how excited I was when I first saw them building it. They said in our local newspaper that there was a problem with the parking situation at the older location so this one should be better. I can't wait to try it!Kathy.

Well its a nice question to be asked. I would say it depends actually on the event or situation. Most of the times when its like raining i would like to take it from my freezer. There are cases when friends are at home then its really a treat to go out to have it. Ice creams are something that you can live without.:-)

Hi bookreadermom, I like to buy lots of ice cream of different flavors during big sale season. Knowing that there are considerable ice creams at home, I couldn’t help and would take it frequently I think it’s not a healthy way to take too many sweet ice creams often. This would put on weight easily Due to this, I don’t keep any ice cream in the fridge anymore at the moment. I prefer to take it outside whenever I thirst for it. at least this could help me to cut down the amount of ice cream taking. What's more there are various flavors of attractive ice creams are available outside. Have a nice day and happy posting!

Isn't ice cream one of the four major food groups? LOL I don't always keep it in the house, simply because I need to lose weight and I can't resist ice cream. But, when it's on sale I buy it as a treat. In fact, I'm heading to the store today to get some while it's on a buy one, get one free sale! :)

Oh my goodness..If I had ice cream in my house 24/7 I would probably also be eating it 24/7..(see my lack of self-control? lol!). It's definitely a treat for me. I'm not too big on ice cream anyway, and I'm trying to watch my weight..So it's only allowed on VERY rare occasions!
