I like to eat bird nest soup. It is very nice. I normally buy this bird nest from local Chinese medicine shop. It is quite expensive. I cook the bird nest with rock sugar hence the taste is sweet. I saw recipe book saying that bird nest can be cook into porridge too. My sister said bird nest is good for your skin and beauty. But my friend told me bird nest is actually not so good. She even forward an email on process making bird nest. But I have lost the email without reading it. Anyone here likes bird nest soup? What kind of bird nest you buy? Please share your thoughts here about bird nest...

Hi, I agree that bird nest is highly valued and hence, many fake bird nest and chemically bleached bird nest has flooded the market. One indication that it is real bird nest is that it will expand after being soaked and not melt after being cooked. The state of Sarawak is one of the leading producers of bird nest as we have many caves in this state. You can log on to www.silverglobe.com.my if you would like to try out pure Sarawak cave bird nest. My product is guaranteed to be genuine as I source only from suppliers approved by the government. In addition, you can check out some reviews on my website for upclose pictures of the bird nest. Do leave a note in the contact us form if you have any inquiries or feedback. Thanks!

I agree with you, indeed bird nest is good for skin and beauty. I don't think I eat that a lot, the no. of times can count in 5 fingers. The process of cleaning the bird nest makes me feel I eating down lots of other chemicals too. The premium quality bird nest can be very expansive. I rather eat some other good food or nutrition products in moderate price more frequent then taking bird nest once in long time. I have heard too many of the bad effect after taking it long term, one of that is skin allergy.

Thank you for your time here. Bird nest is good for skin and beauty might of its high protein. We still can take other food that is rich in protein to replace bird nest! I remember my mom always tell us to eat more fish because eating more fish can make you look pretty! This is because fish is rich in protein too. LOL. Hope to see you again in my new discussion! Happy mylotting!

Yuck! I can't eat that. My mom buys it all the time and she always ask me if I want. As I recall, it tastes somewhat like sugar?

I like Birds Nest soup, it is quite expensive and rare to find. It is made obviously from their nest that comes from their drool. But Traditional Chinese medicine has taught us that it is really good for the body and has a lot of things that our body can benefit from eating this kind of soup. I just wish to find such as like that here in India, but I guess it will only be on Five Star Hotels. Anyway, if there is China Town here, i may have found it, but I guess back in my own country, that's where I can taste Birds Nest soup. Happy Mylotting.

It is a real bird nest. This bird is a kind of swallow which usually live in the cliff. These swallows make their nest use their saliva, so i think this process may like the bee produce honey. Because these nests are very dangerous to reach, so the price are very expensive.

Hi macdingolinger, Birds nest soup = birds saliva! Pay a huge amount of money to drink bird's saliva, isnt that cool? What you can do though, go catch a swallow bird and squeeze the saliva into your mouth, way cheaper. Anyway, mac, that was all a joke. Jokes aside, birds nest is very popular amongst the Chinese community. It is believed to have plentiful healing properties. You might not like it on first try, but after sometime, you will find them delicious and refreshing indeed. :)

I know the bird nest is good for our health, but I have not maken it as food. The nest we eat comes from a bird live in South China. Because of the small quantity they can produce one year, the price of the nest is expensive. Having the nest regularly will cost you a lot of money.

Hi Donna, thank you for your response here. Maybe you can try out the bird nest soup 1 day. The preparation time is quite long too. First you have to soak the bird nest in warm water for 3 hours, then you have to remove the dirty parts from the bird nest. Last, cook the bird nest in slow cooker for another 3 hours. It is then served while it is still hot! Hope you will like it!

Hi Hatley, just check on other responses here and you will get to know more about bird nest. Or you can goggle search to get more information. Honestly, it is really a very expensive food. Most Chinese will like it. It can be served as dessert too. Bird nest, is actually made of a bird saliva called swallow. Swallow likes to build their nest at the cliff hence it is very hard for people to collect the bird nest. After cleaning process, it is then to be sell to people. Stay tune at this discussion and I hope there will be more Mylotters give their comments here.

Bird nest is actually a saliva of Nido bird. Here in the Philippines these birds called balinsasayaw. It is dangerous to get the nest in the cliff because they pick them without any safety equipments to protect them. They risking their lives to be able to get nest to sale. It is expensive and some believe that it has a health benefits. I haven't tried it and I don't know if I can't eat it because it is still a saliva of the bird.

Many people believe bird nest helps in their body, especially to prevent from ages . however more and more people start to challenge the idea. The price and the effects are not in balance. However if you can afford it and also you like the taste you can have it. Personally I don’t like having it. I feel it takes too long to prepare and cook for it. I prefer simple life with simple food.

Hi, thank you for sharing here. Yeah, I heard my mom said bird nest is good to prevent ages. But I don't know how true it is. It is very expensive food so people might think expensive means it is good ! But who knows is it really worth of our money to pay for such an expensive food and get the effects.

I still have that email if you are interested.. actually the way it was done, more for those in overseas and not in Malaysia.. Back to the topic, I will be happy if someone will just prepare the bird nest drink and serve it to me instead of me going through the hassle myself.. It's quite tedious to prepare this 'valuable' drink though... I have someone gave me as a gift of those dried ones, and I have only did once since I gave birth to my baby till now.. but I am glad that before I enter into giving birth to my baby girl, I had one bowl of it.. or else it will sure be wasted sitting in the fridge..
