What job you have ever done did you enjoy the most?

Or, if you haven't yet had a job, what (realistically) do you think would suit you best?

I've enjoyed most of my jobs but I tend to get bored after about three years. The one I enjoyed most was working for Social Services and feeling I had helped some families to have a better start. Unfortunately, they seem to have got bored with me.

I've just realised that I've only mentioned paid jobs. The most satisfying and the hardest job I've ever done was to stay at home and look after my children.

Well done for remembering! Most people seem to have assumed I meant 'paid' jobs!

I suppose that, to some extent, it depends what you mean by modelling. I often wondered how much people really enjoy modelling. It is, by all accounts, a hard life (though not badly paid!)

I would have to say my first job which was as a file clerk for a company that made plush animals, and merchandise for major motion pictures. The people I worked with were great and my boss was sweet and the work was fulfilling.

The people you work with and the 'feel' of the company is so very important when it comes to enjoying a job. A good boss and friendly company can make even the most menial job feel worthwhile.

Well, apart from being a full time mum, the job I enjoyed most was bar work. I worked in a working mens club, a posh cocktail bar in a restaurant, an independant pub and a chain pub. I really enjoyed all of them. I liked the chain pub because I got on really well with most of the people there. Unfortunately, I had some problems which meant I had to leave. I enjoyed the work at the cocktail bar, you wouldn't believe how much fun it is to mix cocktails (well unless you have done it of course!) but the problem with that was the boss's ego trip. Newly promoted to tell everyone else what to do but couldn't actually do the job if her life depended on it!

I'm sorry that you had problems with your jobs that meant you had to leave. Incompatible bosses are a nightmare! Bar work is very good for those who like meeting people. A good bar person is really as skilled as any therapist, since they often have to deal with people pouring out their problems!

That's true, although I never really had much of that. I had loads of old men trying to chat me up!

I might have been in the queue ... but it was too long, so I finished my drink and went to do my shopping instead.

Some jobs are very boring and badly managed. I hope you find what you want!
