Keys, cars, and houses

The neighbor lady just brought down the spare set of car keys and asked us to rescue her husband at work. He'd locked his keys into the car. People will forget and we all make mistakes. I've had this happen to me a few times too...locked myself out of the house with no key available to get back in, or locked my keys into the car. Gone are the days when rescue was only a coat hanger away! The new cars don't work that way. Have you ever locked yourself out of your home or locked your car with the keys inside? What did you do about it? Karen

When i pull a doozie i pull a doozie. , i was at an auction years ago. I had bought some furniture to go in my antique store. IT CAME UP A TEETOTAL FLOOD when we wnet to load it. If i remember correctly my friend ANNIEFANNIE was w/me. I moved my truck out in the street, jumped out. left the motoe running & locked the door.I know what a d/a. I had traffic blocked , no way to get in the truck & finally after what seemed like forever a guy came by & had one of those tools like cops have & opened my door. I didn't ask him if he was a cop or a car burgler. At the time i didn't really care.. needless to say i haven't done that fool thing again.

I must say, AntiqueLady, that is indeed a doozie. If I had been you, I wouldn't have minded either if the man with the special tool had been a burglar or not! I imagine you were just glad to get it all done and over lol. Karen

Hi Peacefulwmn, well I didn't actually lock myself out of the house last winter but I couldn't get back in a few times. Because of the draught from the front door when it was windy I had the door tightened against the frame and then sometimes it just stuck way to hard to open it. I was with a friend who offered to come back and look at it jamming and I said no, I'm sure it will be fine this time. He said call me when you get back if you can't get back in. Well I couldn't and I couldn't call either as the mobile was locked inside the house.

Hi, well my son and I pushed and shoved for about fifteen minutes until it eventually opened and then the next day I put it back to where it used to be when it didn't stick and put up with the draught again. That's one of the problems with so much wood with such drastic temps.

Yes, wooden doors can be a pain depending on the weather. They swell when it's damp and contract when it's cold. (sigh)

Hi Thea...no way in and no mobile. Ack! That is quite a problem lol. What did you eventually do to get back in? It's a pain when a door sticks so firmly! Karen

Hi Karen! I have done it on few occasions, when I forgot to keys of car inside it. I feel very embrassed when it so happens, therefore, now, I keep a duplicate key in my wallet to avoid this kind of tricky situation.

Hi Deepak. This does seem to be a common enough dilemma lol. Keeping a spare key on one's person is an excellent idea, though. For me, I guess that would be in my purse Karen

Some years ago I went to an international school for a while, and the students lived at the school. I shared my room with another girl and outside the room there was a small corridor with a toilet and a shower. I usually had the key to the room in my pocket when I went to the toilet or the shower to avoid locking myself out of the room. One morning I forgot about it, I was still tired, but I left my room and went to the toilet. When I wanted to go back to my room, I realized that I had forgotten the key...Oh no. I was in my underwear and my roomate was spending the night in her boyfriend's room, so I couldn't just get her key. I was standing in the front of the locked door, thinking about what to do when my roomate suddenly appeared. She needed some clothes from our room, and I was increbibly happy to see her

Hi Porco...in your underwear...now that had to be a bit nerve-wracking lol. We all do this at one time or another. I am very glad that your room mate came back when she did! Karen

I experienced it. Locked in the car, and have the car keys in the car. Then, I went home to retrieve a spare key.

No. That time my home is quite far from the scene of an accident. But I had to pick it up. Next time, may need to make a backup key thin and can be stored in the wallet.

I still remember several years ago, when I came home from school,I found my mum stayed out of door and looked worried about something. Then,I knew she locked herself outside without key, unfortunately, this morning I didn't took my key as well, and my Dad just went to another city on business yesterday. We had to call pliceman. We lived in aparmenpment,so the only way to open the door was across neighbour's balcony to climb into the balcony of our flat, and open the door from inside. my family lived on the third floor, therefore,I had to say the whole process was too dangerous. Finally,we gratefully accepted policeman's help and open the door.

Hello Aiwener. Ack! What a dilemma, yes? You could have gotten hurt going the balcony way, so I am glad the policeman was able to help you and your mom! Have a beautiful day Karen
