First English Managerial Casualty

The first manager to be sacked this season by an English team is Bryan Gunn of Norwich City. His contract was terminated with immediate effect this afternoon after his side suffered a record home defeat last weekend at the hands of Colchester United.
It seems a bit rash to sack someone after only one league match, but obviously the Norwich City board decided they had to make a quick decision.

When I heard this I couldn't believe it, less than a week into the new season and the first sacking. But then I was surprised that he was kept on as manager after the run in they had at the end of last season. At least it gives Norwich time to get things sorted before they go to far into the season.

That is what I really cannot understand. Norwich had a dreadful end to last season, but when they gave him the job on a permanent basis I thought they would at least give him until christmas. But football is a money game nowadays, especially in England, and they are probably not wanting to risk being too far behind in the promotion chase.

Very true, although I still think it's very harsh to sack him so quickly. After the huge defeat I though it was a certainty that he would get the boot but thought it would be at least 6 - 8 games into their season.
