I use the gel-ink and the ballpen, but mostly the gel-ink pen because it is closest to the fountain pen in that you can vary the width by how you hold the pen whereas with a ballpoint pen, unless you get one with a fine point, it looks like a child wrote it or someone in high school.
I would like to write with a fountain pen since that is what I used with when I was young, but I used to get my fingers stained with the ink and it was hard to remove.

I remember when I went to secondary school it was mandatory to use a fountain pen which became quite expensive as I always managed to break the nibs on mine.
These days I generally use a pencil if I am making notes for myself or a fancy biro for proper writing. I say a fancy one because I have had it for a few years and like the feel of it and the way it writes. Plus it is one that you can get refills for so will continue to use it.
I’ve tried using disposable pens but find that they can be a bit scratchy which is something I don’t like when trying to write.
