Well my lotters,
Nostradamus is supposed to be the greatest of all the sooth sayers and it is also believed that most of his predicted events took place in reality. But what he predicted of 1985 that a big Earth quack would end the lives on this planet proved to be a hoax.
Now what is in the air is the year 2012. They say this would be the year that we would be last living our life just before that dooms day and that day would be the end.
Now the million dollar question is - DO YOU BELIEVE THAT LIVES ON EARTH WOULD END in THAT YEAR?
Please share...

Nostradamus is not my prophet. I believe that his prophecies were meant to invoke terror in the hearts of his followers. I believe that no man knows the day nor the hour in which this world will end. I don't think we were meant to live in fear. However it couldn't hurt to be prepared for natural disasters with food storage etc.

Hi glords.
I really appreciate your practical points. If somebody said some thing and you go to the grumbling room would never help. Fear of the future if planted in your heart would create problem for life and hence lets see what happens.

Hi,
This is your spiritual explanation and if you leave everything on God would things really do? Are not there factors such as the heavenly bodies and their attraction and contraction?

All of that is good glords, and agree with your post, but I feel we need to be more prepared in being good servants. If you already are, there should be no terror in our hearts. He wants everyone to believe so the terror is to bring good in the bad. I personally don't believe storing up essentials is necessary, as I truly believe and have faith that when the the end times come, God will provide.
This is all only my opinion, like yours and I am actually not countering anything you said. You had some good points.
But to my answer of the initial discussion, I don't think about it either. It has been predicted so many times and we are not to try and figure it out, but I would take the direction that we could not be far off due to the increasing disasters.

It could. I don't necessarily believe it will, no. I don't really believe all the profecies from the Bible anyway so why would I believe this? Wouldn't! I can remember people out on the corner spouting this stuff since I was in school. If it isn't about this it would be on another topic. Life will end sometime and there is nothing we can do about it.

Who knows?! It is going to happen at some point. I have no real insight in this.

I think this is a prediction in the Mayan calendar Rajib. I have read that the Mayan calendar developed so many years ago has exactly accurate dates till our present times and the calendar stops at 12.12.2012…so it is being thought that the world would end on that day! Who knows…till then, let’s enjoy our mylotting.

Hi Sudipta,
Yes I too feel sometime that it could possibly because of that it was added later by his follower that there would be an end at that point as it goes no further.

I see no reason to believe the world will end in 2012 at all. This year was not even mentioned in association with Nostradamus a few years ago, until people began associating it with the mayans. People then began reinterpreting Nostradamus to fit in with them.
That is the problem with Nostradmus' "predictions". The interpretations people put to his "predictions" keep changing as events happen in the world. People witness an event and suddenyl point to Nostradamus and say "look, see? he predicted it".....NO HE DIDN'T, he didn't predict ANYHTING. His writings are SO vague and flowery that one can take ANY one of them and use it to claim prediction of almost ANY event.
What a lot of people don't realize is that many of Nostradamus' poetic "predictions" were actually social and political commentary.

Hi there,
I appreciate well your analytical response. Yes it was not there in his column but some how people attached it to his name and as people believed in his prediction so they spread that the Earth would end in 2012. All bogus I say.
Thanks for the response.

I'm 53 and there have been such predictions my whole life. No...I don't pay attention. The world will end when it ends and there will be nothing we can do about it. I'm not going to spend one minute of my life worrying about something that may or may not happen. none of us really know so there is no sense in getting scared and worrying about it ahead of time.

Hi sid, I too think that what is to happen will happen and there is no point worrying over it. This is basically the Mayan's concept as their Calender ends on the 31 Dec 2012 and hence the prediction that the earth would see its end on that day.

Hi Rajib, Although I agree that Nostradamus was a great physic, I really don't expect the world to end in 2012. Not only did this great man speak of it, but the Mayan calender also ends in December of that year. I think there is a change in consciousness coming about, indeed has already started, and it will bring about many changes but not the end of all life on the planet. Blessings.

Hi there,
Yes even I do not feel easy to accept the saying that the Earth would meet its end in 2012. That is a point of collective consciousness. And this should alter the event to something else or nothing at all.

Hi,
Things are not spun in the air and this too is either based on reality or rumour. One is true. Now lets wait till the year 2012 arrives and see what it turn out to be.

im curious about it.. i mean there are so many different cultures with their own people that have predicted 2012 that it makes me take it more seriously unlike some rumors where its just one group saying a date.. i try to not be paranoid though

Hi Moon,
I don't think there is anything to panic for there were many such predictions but most got deluged and they did not come true. Here too about the year 2012 same thing is suspected.

that is impossible for him to predict the end oft he world. no one knows when is the time of the end of the world even the best soothsayers will not be able to predict. why is it that there are two days set by nostradamus for the end of the world. so you mean he predicted 1985 or 2012
.

Thanks for the response.

Nostradamus was an imperfect human being, as we all are. I don't believe that the world's going to come to an end in 2012. It's just another tactic to frighten us all out of our wits and have us cowering in a corner of our house, afraid to go out and live and enjoy life.

About Nostradamus I am not so much conversant but whatsoever he has predicted only a bit has come to action and that too coincindently. Therefore I am too skeptical about his prediction.

Dear Rajib
Nostradamus was the one of the greatest person in the world. He was also told that earth will be finished at 1998. But the same time it was not happen. Because what ever Nostradamus told, he told after seeing the future of earth. Don't worry. Be happy. If anything will happen we all will finished. We nobody will remember Nostradamus. First let our self live the life. 20012 is far away.

I don't believe that we will gone or extinct .But I do think something catastrophic that creates, havoc for the whole world will happen. How this manifests itself may not be as grim as we think. It may have more to do with how we handle this situation. I also think it will be on a personal level, that predicts our survival or demise as individuals.
Not all of us have been determined for years to push the gift of nature ,turning the soil unrecognizable. We should have a greater respect for what was given to us in the beginning ,instead of always pushing the change of natural forces, ect.

Hi Capsicum,
Yes even if some thing happens the manifestation is a major concern. A lot could happen and nothing of that sort could take place. Personally I too do not believe in such prediction and above all our scientists to have not said anything solid on this issue.

No, I don't believe in the predictions of anyone because I believe in the word of the Bible. Only God will determine when it's time for the world to end and he's not giving anyone any advanced notice.

hi krajib ..
nothing can stop what god has decided for us .. we can only move on with our lives and see what happens ..
there is a proverb in my language " what is to happen will happen successfully, what is not to happen will never happen even you put all your efford to make it happen"
Nostradamus, has predicted many things and at his capacity of that period, there was a documentary which indicated what he predicted happen but not as big as he commented as his scope was different since during his time world development was smaller than what actually happened
my believe is that life on earth will only end when another planet has been fully developed to sustain life
cheers

Hi Sanjana,
Nice wordings. yes, that I too too believe that what is to happen would happen and I too do not the Earth would end in 2012 since this was not actually predicted by Him.

agreed nostradamus was a great personality. many attempts have been made to interpret his predictions. and here lies the point. one should also consider that he could not fully express what he visualized. the scope and impact of his predictions can also vary. for example he talked about 'pig faced' men fighting wars of the future. which now we know as soldiers wearing gas masks. he also talked about the fall of twin brothers and a city shattered. well practically speaking the damage caused by the fall of twin towers was limited to a few blocks but yes not only the city but the world was shattered. so it is how we interpret his predictions and most probably the true meaning of his predictions would be known only after the event has occurred. no i don't think the world will end in 2012. disasters may occur but its scope and impact may vary...only time will tell.

Hi sunny,
I liked the way you shredded your points. But they are just possibilities not to believe that He had said it.

Hello Krajibg!
Well, back in the 90's a lot of people used to say the end is when we reach year 2000. Hmmm...as far as I know we are still here...LOL...I don't want to say anything bad about anybody's believes or religion but according to my Bible, nobody know when the end is not even the Son of God. "It will come like a thief in the night". We all just need to concentrate on doing good and be good to our fellow man. Stop bashing everybody else that don't believe as we do and respect their believes and religion. When that day comes, my God will not ask me about other people's lifes but only mine. What did I do with my time and my life. So, I guess my friend I will have to say no, I do not believe that lives on earth would end in 2012. :)
Great topic, though!
Have an awesome weekend my friend and happy mylotting! :)

Hi Olivia,
Nice say. Since the events are not in our hands there is no point that we go fretting over the unseen and unknown. All religion say that when there is end there it is and not a man was born to predict for God. '
Thanks a lot and wish you too a happy weekend.
