Go to work sick or stay home?

I love to work but when I am sick it puts a big damper on things. I tell myself I should not miss work but in the same token I don't want to get anyone else sick. Most of the time I go to work reguardless if I am sick or not. I just hate miss a day and miss out on pay. I like my money and don't like to miss a day. I guess I just want my bills paid. Ghe only way I would miss work is if I were so sick I could not get out of bed, bad weather, or a death in the family. So I would go to work if I were sick. What can I say you have to make a living some how no matter what.

I'm working in a hospital wherein duty hours is shifting (every 8 hours). We have rules that when a staff is sick, or will be absent that person should notify the immediate supervisor 8-12 hours before that person's schedule duty hours. So that, they can look for replacement or they will reschedule the other 2 on duty to have a 12-hours of duty to replace the said duty time that that person will miss. When that staff is sick, they should have a medical certificate. I dont want to have an absent but there is one time I need to because I'm sick and I cant go to work the following day so I notified my supervisor and ask me to pass a medical certificate and file my absent. That the first time and hoping that it would be my last absent because, NO WORK, NO PAY!!!

Well for me, it depends on how sick I am. If I'm throwing up or something and can barely stand on my feet then I'd stay home. That's a pretty bad time to go into work. If I just have a cold and feel a tad off then I can take a pain med or something and then I'll be fine then that's what I'll do. I'd rather not go in contagious either cause then I'd be making a lot of people sick and I'd rather not.

i must be punished. i thought i was answering the right discussion but oops. really sorry for this. Anyways, it's hard for us to just absent because we're sick. if it's a minor fever, we are expected to work. even if we feel uncomfortable, it's not a valid reason. if we can still walk and talk -- we are expected to work. that's how strict our company is.

Hi and smile. Well, it depends. Sometimes i will still go to office but not render overtime anymore. But when i know my body is so weak and the only remedy to it is " rest", i will really go and sleep long hours and just spend time at home. Happy mylotting and smile always!

I always worked whehter I was sick or not also. I did not want to get others sick either and I sure did not feel good but we had to have the money. I did not want to cut them short at work either. I rarely missed days of work.

Well sometimes even if you are sick you have to report to work, the simple reason being the responsibility under your shoulder.......you just cant manage to skip work because of an important meeting or a client visiting you.......I would not go to work if I simply cant get up from my bed or I am feeling too weak.......but otherwise i would always report to work !!!!

It all depends on what position you are in. If you are a very senior management employee, then its important to go to work even if you are sick. Unless of course you have got H1N1 flu virus. Many employees under you requires instructions from you so that everyday jobs get carried out properly. Sometimes we do not trust our deputies when work is concerned.

i think its better to take a rest in the home rather that going to work if you are sick.. and rest is very helpful to recover from being sick. we need to give our self a rest, we should not abuse it and give ourself time to relax.

I work from home so unless I'm dying in bed and in the bathroom every five minutes I work whenever possible. When I had a job outside the home then I would not go if I had a fever or was so sick that I would either get others sick or I was too sick to stand up. But then again, I grumble when others come in sick because I don't want to get sick. Go figure.

I personally, as long as it isn't something highly contagious have always gone to work. The only other circumstance inwhich I hadn't gone to work was when I had a fainting spell. It made me to nervous to even drive.

Unless I cannot get out of bed, I have a fever, or have to make frequent trips to the bathroom, I go to work. I simply cannot afford not to go.

Hello, I rarely missed a day of work so I would go to work even being a a little sick. If I could not get out of bed then I would call in sick but that rarely happened.I work out of home now so if I am sick I still do the work only I pace myself so I can rest if I need to.

I'd call in sick for the following reasons. a. I could get more sick, which may force me to take off for more number of days. b. I could infect other colleagues as well (I had one colleague with mumps and we all had a bout of it). So definitely take an off and be a very good patient taking medicines in time and all the liquids in. :-)
