Do you like to travel around the world? No doubt it is good to have a vacation or holidays out of the country. Every year I will travel with hubs. And as for me, traveling is like a equal to shopping. I like to shop while I am on my travel trip. Sometimes, I love to buy stuff that are hardly get from my country. For example, I have been to Japan and there are lot of thing to buy at Japan. It is such a heaven for me. I bought many things from Disney land too. As we have no Disney land at my country. How about you? Do you shop while you are traveling? Or you only like to spend your time on sight seeing, eating the local food or taking photos...

I guess this always true for you girls whether you travel or not. hehe. But for me personally travel means nature. If I have to travel I tend to prefer to go outdoors to mountains, forest, bodies of water, caves.

In fact shopping is not the most important part when I have a travel. Especially today I like to travel to some places with beautiful natural scenery. So it may not be a good place to go shopping there. I enjoy eating the local food and take photos when I have a travel. When I have some free time, I will buy the local souvenirs for my family and friends. But I won't go to have a travel for shopping only. I love China

Dear vingyan, At the beginning when I just started to travel, I used to shop a lot of souvenirs for families and friends. Go with one luggage, back with two luggages But as I travels more often, I begin to realise a lot of items I bought are not fully utilised and it is a waste of hard earned money! For instance, my first trip to Korea, the tour will bring us to Ginseng shop... I ended up spending almost RM3,000 on ginseng products itself. At the beginning we take the ginseng powder and add it into our beverages daily, as times goes by, we begin to get lazy. So, it is expiring now. The ginseng roots - expensive..my mum keep till today...no time to cook...what for I stuck the money in ginseng, might as well invest in the stock market in March 2009, already triple the capital...lol So, the following year, went to Korea again, this round smarter..no more buying Korean ginseng. But bought horse bone powder (RM1100.00) for my mum in Jeju Island, heard it is good for arthritis..end up my mum took some and said very heaty...now end up in the fridge..taking up space! Last year, I am wiser, I only bought small souvenirs in London for my families..it is the thoughts that counts..seems they prefer the 'snowball' and fridge magnet than ginseng products! And hardly buy anything when I am in Spain, only bought some T-shirts for my family members..practical too! We channel our expenses on enjoying the local delicacies and taking more pictures. Instead of spending the time shopping, we sit down for a cup of coffee and admiring the local people doing their routine life and snapping the unique buildings. We did that in Egypt...enjoying the sight of tourist bargaining for better prices during shopping at the busy merchant streets But if you really found something very unique and special, buy it since you go all the way there..do not regret it later...I regret for not buying the 'Hard Rock Cafe - Egypt' t-shirt for my sister. I always buy 'Hard Rock' t-shirt for her wherever I go :) Enjoy Travelling and Happy myLotting

hi Iriene, thank you for your long response here. I have been to Korea before. The tour guide also brought us to Ginseng shop. That was the time I travel with my sisters. We don't take Ginseng at all so I only buy some Ginseng sweets. More ever the Ginseng is so expensive, and I think you should not keep it must cook and eat and it is good for the health, I think. Try to think the other way, you eat the expensive Ginseng and get the nutrient in it, your body get stronger, this is a way to invest in your health! Happy mylotting!

It really depends where I go, when I go down south to the warm countries like Mexico, Dominican, and Cuca, I don't do much shopping except for a few souvenirs. When I go to places like China, Japan, the States, I do an awful lot of shopping along with sightseeing and all that stuff!

Yeah, China and Japan is shopping heave. But it is good to shop at China. Forget about the quality, you can shop a lot and the price is very cheap compare to Japan. i like to shop along the sight seeing tour. Looking at different sight seeing spot will have different souvenirs and things to buy, I just could not miss it... thank you for your time here.

For me travel equals some level of shopping all though I am not a shopper per say. I cant resist however picking up some small souvenir, usually several and a notebook for myself to boot.

I really love to travel and would say that it is my top hobby. I went around the world when I was 20 years old. I have bought costume dolls from around the world. I usually buy postcards from the places that I go to. I like to bring back coins from my travels.

Yes, I also shop whenever I travel but I try to minimize it since I don't want to be charge on my extra baggage but I definitely make sure that I have enough space on my luggage for this shopping spree items. I also think that shopping while traveling is two things that usually go together.

My travel is not really an equal to shopping. I'm more enjoy going tourist spot for visiting than purposely going for shopping. Of cause, I will do the same too as you said, when I saw some nice stuff. I will also buy those things that cannot get in own country. In my last trip to HK Disneyland, I spend quite a lot there. Bag full of Disney stuff for own and souvenir. I feel that buying some local production in that country for remembrance is quite good too. Like printed T-shirt with country name.

I love to shop when I am traveling, as you say we come across so many attractive things which are not available in our place, and I am attracted to buy these stuffs. But, I take along someone who is acquainted to that place so that we are not duped or charged more than the original rate of the product.

I like mountian climbing. There are many tree hill. There are many strange rock. There are some cute animals, but also see a lot of beautiful birds. Sometimes the way to climb, I would like to have the snake would suddenly come out? And see the height of the tree. A variety of shapes. The leaves are beautiful. I was wanted, they will live longer. Has experienced a lot of things and people. I like the mystery of nature.

Oh, vingyan.. you started a discussion that interest almost everyone ya.. Travel and shopping.. Don't they come hand in hand? You know what, if I am going to those city tour, like Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing, London, Hong Kong or even LA, I will sure ask the tour organiser if they include a shopping trip for at least a day! I will love to buy those local stuff and also bring back some souvenirs for family and friends.. Especially in Japan, I really shop till I drop! Almost broke my pocket.. I had all my bags stuff with all the goods and was so happy seeing the success of the bargain.. It will be even better, if Ringgit Malaysia is stronger, and I am sure I will be shopping more..
