Have you almost been in a collision?

I was on the interstate highway going 60 mph's, it was 12am, it highway was empty beside me and the person in front of me and out of nowhere the car just stops dead on the highway in front of me!! My heart nearly popped out of my chest AND I was on the phone. It's so weird moments like that because you think man, I could of very well been done with this life, its certainly a strange feeling to have because its easy to feel permanently connected to this life. My immediate reaction was almost like denial.

I'm glad you are okay! But if you hadn't been on the phone you may have seen some signs that the person might be stopping or seen something sooner. Were you a safe distance away? Please, please stop phoning while you are driving! I know you probably don't think that had anything to do with it but anything that takes your attention from the road and other drivers, even for a second, is dangerous--as you might see in this example.
Was he crazy? Drunk? Did you ever find out why he did that?

No I never found out why! After I swerved out of the way and caught my breath I was like 'is this person crazy!' and began slowing down to stop and back up but decided to just let it go and just keep going. I don't know whose in that car and dont need to make situation worse.

This just proves that we never holds our life. That anytime we can die if God will allow and it is our time to die.
I also been in this situation where the whole world seem to stop for a while and everything is in slow motion.
That eventhu we care too much for our lives, but other people around us were too reackless that will make us a victim.
This is just kind of some warning and some enlightment it's my opinion.

Yep, just recently. I was doing 100 kph in a narrow avenue and there was this jeepney that's slow as molasses. What I did was try to overtake the said jeepney. My mistake was I took the path to the jeep's right side. The jeepney, as it is a public transport vehicle here in Manila, suddenly veered right as if going to unload a passenger. Luckily I was so fast that it was just a few inches away of a crash collision. I vowed never to drive above 80 kph ever again.

There were some problems, but in few times from my side. And i can tell you : Once, i was comming back from my grandparents, and i was driving our family car. The car was full with people, i mean my family . I was going to pass a car, that it was going at 100 km/h ( 60 mph i think ) , and the road was empty, but from ahead it was coming a car, but far away . I tryed to pass on the car, in the 5th gear , and i was passing him, when , that car was accelerating, and i was next to that car, and i passing him so slow, and i was affraid, because the one from ahead was comming fast...but finnaly i passed him, but it was hard . My brother said that it was better to change the gear into the 4th one for more power , and he was right , but then , i didn`t think in that way . Anyway, that guy it was a.... he knowed that i was passing him, and he accelerated ...

It's a good thing you're fine. I missed lorry once. It appeared suddenly from a junction so fast and I nearly lost control of my car. I didn't saw it before since it's an old road and there's trees growing on each sides. But since the lorry was too fast, it ate my lane and I need to avoid it at all cost. It was scary and I felt like my heart stop beating. Eversince then I didn't use that road anymore.

Oh wow that was a close one. There have been one time that I would have actually been in a very serious life threatening collision. I was going home from work and I was driving a bit fast because I didn't want to be stuck in traffic forever I had a long day. Any way the street that I was driving on and was about to turn on there was this hill a bit ways up along the corner. Before turning down the street I had dropped my phone and I knew that my husband would call me so I thought nothing of it and just reached out and tried to get it while I was doing that yep, you guessed it. My car begin to drive up that hill and my heart was litterally pounding out of my chest as I tried to get the car back on the road. I eventually did but while doing that my car almost flipped over and there were a bit of cars every where. So I almost flipped over and would have caused a very bad car accident with other cars that were passing by. First of all I was very embarrassed and people were looking at me really weird. I guess I would be doing that if I had witnessed what I just did. So now, first of all I am very scared to drive down that street any more and now if I ever drop my phone I'll just leave it on the floor until I'm able to stop at a red light, place it in park and pick it up. From that one day I have learned a lot. And believe it or not I have still not to this day, ever caused an accident.

oh man, that sounds disorienting, suddenly driving over a hill, I'd be scared out of my mind too. So Im guessing nobody from your work saw you? lol, just kidding. Yea, dropping your phone on the floor is tempting because the same has happened to me a few times and I have reached down to get it but not because Im expecting a call or anything, i know this sounds silly, but I feel like I would want it right by me in case I DID get into an accident. It almost become like needing my seat belt, I cant go on the road without one because I've had a couple scares where I forgot to put it on (this is rare because im paranoid about no seat belts) and something almost happens.

I'm glad you still safe now! I almost been in a colision 2 years ago. My family go to mountain area and the way is zig-zag. We can't see vehicle that comes from opposite direction.. In front of my car there's a truck with speed only 20 km/h and I need to pass it by because we was in a hurry. I press the gas pedal and in the middle of the truck, suddenly a big buss comes from opposite direction! I went to the back of the truck again before that bus hit my car and the time is only 1 second,, my heart beat heavily and I can't think about anything for a while. I pass that truck the next 15 minutes and no one talk in that car during that 15 minutes

AHH!
Do you have a small car my goodness I hope it was a SUV because I dont know if a small car can take on a bus. I love the little cars they have no but I could never feel safe with them on the highway, love older cars like Volvo and Mercedes Benz because their hard as rock (i know because i hit dear 40 mph w it, didnt feel anything)

Please drive safe! I am an American Soldier and it is all too often that we not only lose soldiers but family members as well to driving and talking on the cell phone. When these accidents occur I am usually the one on my post that gets called out to clean up the mess and deliver news to families. I know I wouldn't ever want anyone to notify my family that I didn't make it home that night. So please, pull over and make your call or, call the individual later.
Thanks and feel free!

No not on the battle field. Just around the post where I'm stationed. There are actually more fatalities every year due to cell phones and driving; then there is in the war overseas. I personally know that if you have to take a call I will pull over and put my four way markers on and as soon as I am done continue driving. That or if I have a passenger with me I will have them answer my phone let the caller know that I am driving and will call them back in a few minutes.

Yes I have! I was driving down the highway at about 65 mph in the middle of three traffic lanes. Both of the other lanes were empty and a car starts to merge on from an on ramp. All of a sudden, the car continues to merge into the center lane and is on a direct collision course with my car. This forced me to quickly check the third lane for traffic and swerve over to avoid being hit.
