Hehe =], I went to the beach (Rockaway Beach in NY) two days ago on Friday. It was a lot of fun and I been to the beach about twice already before that but never before have I got so burnt! My nose is peeling, there's also red spots under my eyes around my cheek bone and my shoulders are also pretty bad. Usually I tan fine except for my face since a little lighter. My whole body always get darker it's my face that gets red sometimes. But never before has my body been in pain from the sun! What's funny is I've only been on the beach for about 2 hours I believe from 12-2... I think that's crazy. The sun over here is never that strong.
What about you guys?

I have been to the beach many times lately, I live in the Cape so I don't need to go far. I don't usually get burnt in the sun because I put on enough lotion and I keep applying it again and again after I go into the water.
When you don't normally play in the sun, you will get sunburnt easily even though you only spend couple hours on the beach.

I've never really burnt except a little bit on my face. I always end up with a really nice tan. I was fine even went I went down south to the hot countries like Cuba, Dominican, and Mexico. You should use sunscreen then, I like my tanning oil (Banana Boat).

we live near the shores of lakes erie and ontario so we often go there for a picnic and a swim during the summer. i remember one year when we went to port dover, i got so burnt from my neck to the top of my bathing suit that from then on, i have had to always be careful because that area gets burnt super easily.

My worst experience was when my nose got burned because of the scourging heat of the sun. It was really worst, my nose turned into a ripe tomato.lol! It took two weeks before it was healed and I was really depressed because it was very noticeable.

I thankfullly don't burn AT ALL so I probably shouldn't even be answering this question. But I am anyway. I've gotten pretty darn tan at a beach called Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis, Minnesota - but I think that was because I canoed on it for 2 hours and then swam for another hour. It was pretty sweet afterwards, I had hella tan lines!!
And here's a random comment - "Rockaway Beach" is a real place?! I always just thought it was a Ramones song.

I have been burnt to the point that i look like a cooked red lobster. I know its fun to be at the beach, but its important to put on sun screen and protect yourself so you don't get so burnt that you can't move your entire body and its uncomfortable to do anything.
I live in South Florida and the sun is usually out in the morning and just blasting heat waves that it is so hot outside. I haven't been to the beach lately but have had some friends go and they come back so burnt that its so funny, everyone that lives here knows what to do when they go to the beach.

I rarely get sunburned because I always put sunscreen on when I go to the beach, swimming, or anything outdoors really. The rare times I get burnt is when I forget to reapply after being outside for a long time. I grew up learning to always use sunscreen because around here we get a lot of sun and it is not worth a tan to end up with skin cancer later.

my face is really pale so i burned really easily even if I put on sunscreen. it hots really bad when I get burned and even worst when i try to put on some lotion to smooth it out. Sometimes the sun rays is stronger on certain days and spots especially during the summer. I hope you're feeling better

izzykitty oh I do sympathize with you.ouch
a few years back I was at the beach about the
same time as you were and i got so badly sunburned
Ihad a regular migraine headache. I was burned all
over on aNybare spot of me, even the tops of my
feet, aloe juice took a lot of the pain away aS
did soaking in a tub of lukewarmwater and strong
tea solution. the tea takes away the stinging aNd
also helps to take the red ou t too. I did hurt
and thats why I say know how you felt. ouch. It
seems that the experts say noon to 2 oclock is the
worst time and even overcast youcan get badly burned.

The worst burn I got from the beach happened a couple of years ago. It was a super hot day. I made the very stupid mistake of leaving my flip flops in the car, and when I stepped on the sand, boy was it piping hot. The distance between where I was and my car was farther from the ocean, so I ran as fast as I could towards the water... I was so relieved. However, after that trip I got burns on my feet.. it was that bad. After a couple of days the skin peeled off and it healed. I never went barefoot to the beach after that incident.

I was on my honeymoon in Hawaii and I was applying A LOT of sunscreen very often and yet I still got burn - I ended up with blisters on the tops of my feet. My ankles were so swollen I could not walk. It was horrible! Now my husband laughs at me and says I need to wear SPF 100 haha. I am from Washington so we dont get to see sun that hot very often
