I have been running XP all of my life and have never upgraded to vista simply because XP has always been reliable and i hear of too many vista problems. So i am getting a new PC and I don't know whether to replace the Vista Ultimate with a custom version of XP or keep it. I need to know if I will be able to run most programs and games with vista.

I believe there is nothing wrong with Vista, it is a great operating system, many problems have been sorted out since the release. Get a new PC with the Vista Ultimate, and if it has a Windows 7 upgrade coupon, you will be able to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate which will be even better than Vista.

as regards microsoft os i use xp version too and i never bought vista one as well!!so i think vista is good as graphics or multimedia but for some tohers is no so nice as we guessed when it cames out in the market years ago!!
I don't like vista also becaue it is full of electronic lock and so it is the os that will say you what you can do and what you can't and so from this aspect i think is a big limitation for users considering that you pay it much money...so i will wait windows 7 if i want chnage my microsoft os..it seemed ok but i will wait october when it will come out officialy!!

We've been using Windows XP at home ever since. We share desk top everyday. But when I went to Singapore, I bought a notebook and have Windows Vista installed in it. I found it more friendly. But I still use Windows XP when I stay at home.

i have been using Windows XP ever since as well. I have used different OS before but still would return to XP, i'm used to it and i like the interface better. I've tried installing Vista Interface into my laptop but I still like XP better than Vista. It's simple and changeable the way i like it to be.

Even though Vista has some problems I prefer the interface over that of XP. However, I have both and use them frequently

Why don't you try it for your self? I mean If your going to have a new PC with Vista pre-installed don't replace it with XP, create another partion with XP in it. And compare the two side by side. Vista is better with the right machine and a lot of software now have adjusted to it, even games run better in it(Window 7 is even better).

In reply with Xp or vista. I use XP and as I computer teacher and tech person I recommend XP.
Also I have talked with a few tech computer people and people that do use vista they hate it the tech people don't even recommend it. there is just to many problems with it is more of a hassle then being user friendly and quick.
It is more steps to get things done. I just wouldn't recommended it. At least not right now I feel the bugs are not all worked out of it yet.

I suggest that you better use XP because my brother loves playing games, he just downgraded to XP because there are some games that are not compatible with vista, aside from that, there are lots of bugs which make the vista error and system crash...another thing, he tends to get formatted because of hang ... so I suggest to use XP first.. or if u may try to use Vista Basic (heard that most are working with games... ) hope it helps.

Vista is only good if your computer is up to running it. You need alot more ram and CPU power which is understandable when you think about it. Xp was released in 2002 which was 7 years ago now! PC's have improved so much from then so it's only natural that the OS should be more improved and have more features. Windows 7 however is much less bloated then Vista, im currently running it now and i've got to say im very impressed!

Windows Vista has many bugs, that is why Microsoft had to make the Service Pack 1 which with my opinion is still Rubbish thats why windows 7 so soon. We will wait and see how it turns out. But believe me windows XP is still the best though I use Vista.
