Are companies still dismissing staffs?

at least in my company, laying off is still undergoing. about half of colleagues have been laid off and this number is still going up. stock market in China is collaping greatly in those days.... really bad actually.

Oh yes, its still on, just less hype now. This is my last month in this company, I finish on 31st August. There are many people who are over 45 who have been asked to take voluntary retirement too. We just live day to day these days.

Someone I work with was let go the Thursday before last. His department has grown so slow because of the economy, but mine is heavily backed up. I wish my bosses would have offerred him a position in my department, and then let him go back to his when his got busy again, but they are really watching their labour. It's sad, and I sure hope he is okay.

There is talk about people might be loosing their job where I work within the next week. And there have been layoffs at several other companies here in Missouri. But so far I have been blessed to still have my job.
