I am so excited. My husband got me a horse last Friday. He is a beautiful Arabian horse that needs some TLC because he was in with some other horses that picked on him and didn't let him eat much. However, I am thrilled with him. He is an older horse, but has a lot of good riding time left in him. His name is Mike Tyson. I love having him around and I better get off of here and go feed him.

I am so happy for you. I am very glad you got one and it has a good home now with someone who will love it and feed it too. I hope you get to enjoy him for many years to come also.

Hi! I was curious how things are going with your horse after a month. Well, I hope! Having a horse is so exciting. You may consider getting a second one, soon, as horses not only get lonley on their own, but they get stressed, too. That's because in a herd, someone always has to be on guard for danger, but they rotate so everyone gets a chance to relax. When a horse is alone, he ALWAYS has to be on guard for himself. I know it's not always possible to have a second horse, but I thought I would put it out there just as some information in case you didn't know. I have an arabian, too. I named him Wildfire, and it definitely fits! He's a bit of a project horse, though, as after 6 months of being with us, he's only just now starting to like us, and to trust us a little. I think that where he was before, no one made friends with him, and he just hasn't ever had the opportunity to trust people. And that's important with a hotblooded breed like an arabian! I know that one way or another, you're going to find having a horse a really rewarding experience. Even though Wildfire isn't rideable right now, I'm still exjoying him, and looking forward to the day when I can ride! BTW, while I don't have another horse right now, I have a couple of cows, and he hangs out with them. It seems to work for him! They're never far apart!

Just looking back through discussions and want to say that Tyson is still with us. He has not been ridden much because of a stifle injury, but I am still very pleased with him and can't imagine life without him.

Having a horse does sound exciting, and I am hoping you are still enjoying having him around as well. I am not that experienced with horses myself, and have not had a chance to ride one in many yrs. But they are beautiful creatures just would take a lot of time to care for I am sure. And quite an interesting name for a horse as well.

I think it's great that you got a horse, carolscash! Your husband must be a sweet guy. I expect that with a name like Mike Tyson there will never be a dull moment with your horse.

My husband is a good guy. OF course, he has his stubborn streaks. LOL! The horse does seem to have a high strung spirit about him so I think that the name fits.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family. I have always admired horses (but am a little scared of them). The Arabians are beautiful animals. I love their smooth lines and graceful necks.
Mike Tyson? Fair warning, I can't resist. Did he bite someone's ear off? I know I'm not the only one, but I couldn't stop myself.
How did your husband obtain him? Did he go through a private seller or a dealer? Having a horse is not something to enter into lightly. It appears that you have great experience with them. Good luck and enjoy.

Hi carolscash, I am really happy for you. I have an Arab as well, I must say though i do have few problems with her, She gets so excited that she does buck sometimes when cantering or jumping. But she is a gorgeous grey and so loving. She is 18 yrs old, and also has a few years of riding left in her. I have had her for about 3 months, and the lady who had her before, would visit her twice per month, she was left in the field all year and suffered with bad Mud Feaver last Winter, she I am keeping her stabled through this winter.
I hope you get on well with your Arab, they love so much attention :-)

They do require a lot of attention. I don't mind though as I love the time that I spend with him. I actually rode him for the first time yesterday and he seems to be a fairly gentle easy horse to ride. I will see how he does today as I think we will trail ride today at a friends house.
What is mud fever? I never heard of it.
