I had someone owe me money and actually I thought she was my friend, she asked me to come over so that she could pay me and she totally avoided me, she was clearly home but didn't answer her door or phone. how childish.

Money it the root to all evil.Money can make people loose their friendships.I have seen it too many times. I try to practice not asking anyone for money. If I do not have it I do without. Alot of my friends however make it a practice to ask me for money and I always give it to them. They always take their sweet time paying me back. I have to learn how to say no. Avoid taken money from people.

That is very childish. I would have been angry. I've been friends with a lady for over 20 years. We were close friends, had a small business together and our kids went to school together. She borrrowed money from me about 4 years ago and it's been horrible trying to get it back. As a result, I no longer want to be around her. She made all kinds of promises to me about the money and nothing materialized from her promises. I am beyond disappointed and am eventually getting back a little each month. No true friend would ever do this to me. I learned a valid lesson from this loan and all I can say is never again.

Thanks for giving me the best response. Did you ever get your money? I will be paid in full in about 5 months.

I never do, for the simple fact of I never know when I may have to come back to borrow again. So if I am lucky enough to borrow from someone, I tell them when I am going to pay them back. When that time comes, I either pay them back promptly, or I tell them that I don't have because... and that I will have it ... or as soon as possible. A couple of times, I have been known to chase people down with money, just because I had a hard time catching up with them after I've borrowed it!!!

Hi floridachick, Many people act like that. They will come to us if they have a problem but avoid us if the time to pay back comes. And this type of person should never called friends. It is okey to borrow from someone but we should never forget about it. They bails us when we have a problem.

I have rarely borrowed any money. When I have, I pay it back as soon as I can. It is a favor someone has graciously done for you. Respectfully getting it back to them a.s.a.p. is the right thing to do.
