Do You Wash Your Hands?

Do you wash your hands after handling money? Money is so nasty after circulating all over the country. I am a big hand washer and like to keep my hands germ free so when I get the urge to eat or snack, my hands are clean.

I never even thought about that before. Although it doesn't matter to me... I believe that if you don't expose yourself to foreign pathogens and germs then your immune system won't evolve and grow. So essentially being too clean is unhealthy. This is a common discussion among doctors today due to the overuse of antibacterial soaps, lotions, and gels.

And I do understand that exposure to germs can be a good thing. I never use any antibacterial soap or lotions. My preference is Ivory soap. The old fashioned bar. Thanks for responding.

I love the smell of Ivory bar soap but being I'm always getting free soap from various sites/groups/friends/family, I haven't used it in over 10yrs. Does it still float? I remember my mom buying it when my bro and I were kids cause we could never find the soap in the dirty bathwater. The Ivory always floated on top.

OH absolutely. Especially handling pennies. Yuck!!! Did I hear that it is conceivable that most of our paper money has been laced with c*o*c*aine. I better read up on that. Double yuck!!!

There was something about it on the news last night but I fell asleep before the actual broadcast. All I heard is it was laced with something and details would be later in the broadcast. I'm not surprised. Thanks for responding.

Not always. Usually I'm not near a wash station after handling money but will wash my hands soon as I get home. If I'm going to eat, usually the food comes in a wrapper of sorts so I can just hold the food in the wrapper while eating it.

I always wash my hands too and especially before eating. I know the feeling about eating foods with the wrapper around it. Feels more sanitary if there is no place to wash hands prior to eating. Thanks for responding.

I am also very conscientious when it comes to hand washing, carolbee. I agree that money is one of the easiest ways to spread germs, and, yes, I always wash my hands after handling it. I remember when there was the big anthrax scare several years ago and I became even more suspicious whenever I handled money. I was always after my grandchildren about washing their hands when they were growing up, and now I have continued the tradition with the great grandchildren.

It's a great habit to acquire. I watched my grandkids before meals while visiting recently and our daughter taught the kids to wash their hands before meals. They are only 2 and 4 so they learned young. Thanks for responding.

I wash my hands after everything. I'm not OCD. If I am out I carry hand sanitizer in my purse. You never know where everything's been.

I don't use hand sanitizer but make sure I wash my hands when eating out especially after being at the casino and handling money. Thanks for responding.

I only wash my hands if I am going to handle food. You are right about it being nasty. I have seen employees in restaurants that handles money and then proceed to handle food.

I have seen that and also have seen rubber gloves on employees while they handle money and then the food. I did work in the food industry and I handled the food, took off the gloves and handled the money last. Thanks for responding.

I can't stand to have my hands dirty.....literally....I wash them all the time which is probably why I have to use so much hand lotion.....If there is any little bit of anything on them....I wash. Money is probably the dirtiest thing that there is..I also carry purell for when necessary....like at my craft shows!

yeap... i always wash my hands. Much as i love to have loads and loads of cash, i'm not very fond of it's fish smell. *shrugs* some notes have this fishy smell. it makes me wonder whether how many hands it has gone through.

I lost my sense of smell so maybe that's a good thing in this situation. I love money also but after handling it, am off to wash hands. Thanks for responding.
