What do you do when you have been really and truly scammed by an online company whom you thought was very genuine. I paid $19.95 to this company called Realdataentry.com first as a part-time worker for 1 assignment a day and then, since they were sending me the assignments regularly and also because the work was different from normal Data Entry, I paid the full amount of 49.95$ for 3 assignments a day in order to earn fast. Having completed my quota of 100 assignments, I requested for payment and received an e-mail saying that once they check my work they would pay me within 2-4 weeks. But at the time of joining, they never said anything about checking our work. Anyway, I carried on with my assignments and having reached 200, I once again requested for payment for both sets. Receiving no reply I sent another 3 e-mails, the last one very strongly worded and they replied that my work was not as required by them and as such they wouldn't pay me. That was 2000$ they cheated me and Paypal says since the date of submitting a dispute is within 45 days, there's nothing they can do about it.
I feel so angry and fraustrated because I wasted a lot of time reviewing the web sites they sent and they wait until I complete 200 assignments to tell me my work is not OK. Even the refund was rejected and I am at a complete loss as to what I should do. I can ill afford the 70 dollars I paid to start the work and Real Data Entry played me out of 2000$. Is there anyone who can advice me on what action I can take?

I don't do ANYTHING that requires me to spend any money. I signed up for some survey sites and other than here at myLot, I make some money at CashCrate and NeoBux. Both sites, including myLot didn't make me pay anything to start working. A real company or a real internet business won't make you pay anything.
Ask yourself this in the future: Would you pay up front money to work at a job in real life? Say you walked into a grocery store and they said "yah, we'll put you to work for $19.95 for 'start up costs' and 'training materials.' Would you pay? I know I wouldn't.

The golden rule to remember about sites like this is that if they ask for money up front they are generally scam sites. As for any action you can take? You could report them to whoever hosts the site- they might take it down. As for any legal rights you may have I am unsure. You would have to find out what country the scam artists reside in and then seek legal advice. I am sorry you have been scammed in this way and I hope your story comes as a wake up call to others who may be tempted to join such sites.

In the past, we had no action to take when we were scammed out of some money, except through Paypal (I would follow up with that refund once you reach that 45 day mark). The only thing we could do is post in a few forums warning others not to try the same "opportunity"
Now, we have a forum dedicated to reviewing the popular IM Products, Services, People & "Gurus", and business opportunities online. They even have a section that educates people on the most prominent scams today, even Data Entry
(NOT A REF LINK http://www.imreportcard.com/scams/data-entry-jobs.cgi )
Now we have a database that we can check as part of the IM community, and see what the community has to say about a thing before we spend money on it. If you don't see the thing you are looking for, suggest it!
Best of all, members are paid very well for participating! If you would like to know more about this site, send me a friend request and I will send you the information.

I don't know which country you are from, but I would call Paypal instead of writing them. Sometimes you get better results when you speak directly to someone, rather than sending an e-mail.
Also, if you would like the link to join that site, you can add me as a friend and I will send you the link.

I did write to Paypal, but they say it's not possible to open up a claim since the dispute time is over. But how could I have opened up a dispute claim within 45 days when the online company concerned told me they would pay me within 2-4 weeks after submitting my assignments. That means after 60 days. You see, they have covered themselves very nicely and unfortunately no one seems to care how blatantly they cheat people. You wouldn't believe how much time I wasted on the 3 assignments daily. Some of the web sites they wanted me to review were so long and so boring, but I kept at it sometimes late into the night, foregoing my sleep and even meals to do my work just so that I could earn some much needed extra money. That's why I feel so upset.
I will certainly take your advice and report them to the link you sent. thanks a lot and I will be visiting your site too.

I am so sorry, I wish I had an idea on how to help you. But I do use some prevention techniques. First off I never send in money as a preliminary that way I make sure that I don't waste anything but time. Secondly, my mom always looks up the business with the Better Business Bureau to make sure that they are a legit business. She saved us by doing that because the Better Business Bureau told us which "work at home companies" that we were looking into had bad reputations especially regarding payment processing. Maybe one thing that you can do is report the site to the BBB so that they will have current info to warn others with, I am not sure exactly how you do that though but I wish you luck in your future endeavors.

I would report them to the BBB. And after that I am not sure that you can do much more, as these types of things happen on a regular basis to people all over. There are so many scammers out there, making it their mission to steal from people. Not sure why or how they can get away with this without being tracked down.

Hi ladygator : Exactly what I'm thinking. How do they scam people to this extent and get away with it. I know of several people now who have complained to the relevant authorities including Paypal. I did too. But no action seems to be taken and they go on and on cheating people. Isn't there anything that can be done?

I was also initially tempted to join one of the data entry sites but fortunately when I checked up with IM report card site and found that the site I wanted to join fell in the category of scam. You can find many sites whether they are genuine or scam ones if you check them with IM report card there you have people share their experiences on many sites. I really feel sorry for getting scammed by one of these fraudulent sites.

I would never trust any site where I had to pay money first for the promise of pay for work later. Also I've learned to check websites to see if they are scams by googling the site and adding scam to my search. For the site you signed up for, there are several complaints of people who were also scammed. Remember also if it sounds too good, it's probably not true.

Normally I don't fall for the sales talk. But on this particular site, there was no sales talk. It was so simple and straight forward with no big story etc. in fact they stated that they wanted to give people a real opportunity to earn because they know how many scams there are on the internet. Can you believe it?
I wish you would just visit the site and see what I mean. Its. www.realdataentry.com

I am so sorry to hear about your loss . It is terrible when you work so hard trying to make honest money and someone just cheats you like that. You may try reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission. I am not sure they cna help you get your money, but at least they will be reported for what they are doing.

I'm glad you are letting people know about this site and that they are a scam. I actually started their "trail" a few days ago. You have saved me with this review because I was considering paying the part time fee. I wish that did not happen to you and I hope that the website gets deleted. I think they should give you money for the time and money that you put into their website. It is crazy that happened because they seemed so convincing...they even have a testimonial page with paypal proofs, so I guess those are fake. Anyways, I wish you well and hope you are able to get compensated.

hi: I'm so glad that you didn't get caught to these scammsters. They are really terrible. Now that I'm on the look out I have come across many blogs and forums where lots of people have recorded them as Scams. Shouldn't Paypal take some action? While I'm definitely not expecting any money from those cheaters, they should at least give me a refund, which also they are refusing to do. I wish everyone could get together and chase them off the internet.

Well, lesson learned the hard way. Always check the site is legit before paying, no wait, before even using the site! If it is not legit, why waste your time right? Check for payment proof, ask people like MyLot before using the site. That is basically the main point.

Very sad friend. That's why always be careful before joining any program online.Mainly i can't understand how you are convinced by others to work for them and even give them initial money also. You are providing your efforts and time.So you are eligible to be paid by them. But instead of that you have given them money.Well, forget all.I am earning online since many years but never have paid any company.I am getting my earnings regularly and that also in time.Even the programs are free to join. You may try them.

I am so sorry that happened to you. In the past I was ripped off quite a few times and then I came to the decision that if I was working for someone, they were supposed to pay me, not the other way around. There may be some people who have been successful at finding companies that paid them to do data entry from home. I am not one of those people and I am not going to throw any more money away on such endeavors. I will never again pay anyone for the opportunity to work. In such cases, I do not believe that you are an employee. You are a customer.
