i think for speed and security or the personalization of the os linux is much better thna windows and so considering you can have unlimeted softwares freeware it will result really nice using linux os!!
Surely Windows is lower than linux and so many threats are created specifically for this os because is the leader of the market and so infections can be spread quickly...surely as regards windows is good the user interface and the configuration of different ports or hardware!!So i think that considering many things are compatible with windows it cna be good also have a double os on your pc...i think in majority of cases you will use linux but for few others you can switch on windows as well!!

I love linux, coz it has less problem than windows i have been using linux for about 10 years now and i have sampled too many of them. linux assumes that you are an intelligent person, if you are not then don't install it.

Well i prefer windows as i am comfortable using that and also there are lot of applications which works on windows but not on linux. plus there are a lot of driver problems with linux. and so i prefer not to use it.
But yes i have also heard that it is better in performance than widnows. But then i dont know for real as i have not used it in person. Also i would like to use MAC OSX if possible, i have used it for some time and i felt that it is very nice and beautiful from the looks point of view. Any ways these are my views

At the moment, I'm content with Windows. I have never tried the Linux OS, people say it is more secure and PC magazines say also the same. Windows is more prone to viruses that's why there's always update and security patches to download. But with my current antivirus software up-to-date and security patches installed, I think I will be content with Windows.

Hai Renhard,
I would like to say that It depends... on usage.... on requirements.... I am a Microsoft developer... So for me it requires Windows Operating System for my development related activities. In my personal laptop I am having both Windows as well Linux operating systems. But after the release of Windows 7 Operating system. I use only that. SO I am not able to say which one is better....
Regards,
Reyas

I really can't say which among the two is better. I've been using Windows for the past few years and I'm quite happy with it. I've been exposed to Linux and its other distros and I was a bit confused even though the GUI is similar to windows. the problem though that i have with Linux is that you have to type in several comnnads just to execute a certain command.

i know a bit about linux and its advantages over windows operating system. but the thing is you need to have advance knowledge of linux to handle the operating system. windows is very common and so applications and all can easily run on any windows platform. but that is not the case with linux and so i prefer windows over linux. but yes i have heard a lot of people telling that linux is better than windows. but frankly, i have never tried it myself.

I prefer windows vista because that is the operating system my laptop has installed right now and I have never changed a operating system in a laptop.

I like Windows better, because it is a lot easier for me and I grew up with it. The XP Professional is what I have and it is working real well for me.

I actually like both of them, Windows 7 is good for all my office productivity apps and AutoCad programs, since I am going to become an engineer. Linux is good for experimenting with things, and all the other apps.
