Do you talk or text on the phone when you are driving?

Hey myLotters, We all know that texting or talking on the phone while driving can be extremely dangerous. However, a lot of us do it anyway and ignore the warnings. I try not to pick up the phone while I'm driving, but it's so hard to resist the sound of a vibrating or ringing phone. What about you? Happy myLotting! -virusxtreme24

I do talk on the phone when I'm driving. I've texted a couple of times but when I'm typing I don't look at the phone whatsoever I know my keyboard by heart and if something is messed up while typing ppl understand what I'm saying. I use to use a bluetooth but I lost it a couple of months ago and just haven't had the money to get a new one. Some states here have laws against driving with the phone like CT and NY...but in FL there's no law against that yet.

I am, I don't do anything with my phone if the roads are busy or during rush hour or roads that I am not familiar with.

I never text or read texts while I drive. Sometimes I will talk on the phone, but only if it important. Which is rare. Only for like directions or something like that.

Even though both texting and talking on the phone is dangerous, I believe texting poses more of a hazard because your eyes are concentrated on the phone display not the road. While talking on the phone, you can actually look at the road. Not saying that talking while driving is safe, though.

Here in the UK it is actually illegal to talk or text on the phone when driving, but sadly people still do it, it's extremely dangerous and has caused many accidents, I would never take the risk, mind you it's very rare for me to use my phone except in emergencies, and texting can wait, it's not important, keeping your eyes fully on the road without distraction is important and is not life threatening either. I can also ignore a ringing phone it doesn't bother me, mind you I usually have my music on in the car anyhow and the mobile is hidden away in my bag.

I find it so sad how innocent people are killed by careless people texting/talking while driving :(

Where I live, they recently made texting while driving illegal. I knew it was bad before, but now that I have the threat of an expensive ticket hanging over my head, I'm much less likely to do it. I still sometimes sneak a text or two in at red lights. (don't tell on me) As far as talking, I don't find it that distracting. I can talk and drive at the same time. And you're exactly right...it is hard to ignore that phone when it rings!

Nahh I won't tell on you. And some people are born to multi-task. I'm not one of those people ):

I actually do neither. When I get to my destination or find a place to pull over I will call the person back or text back. I tell them in either case I am driving and will get back to them within the half or hour, or whatever the case my be. My friends and family are fine with that. I need to focus on the road.

That's a smart idea, by pulling over on the side of the road to make phone calls you are putting your safety first.

That's good to know. One phone call isn't worth your life.
