when you have something that needs to be done that you don't really want to do what happens? do other little jobs suddenly seem extremely urgent? in my case i have something to write that is both difficult and a bit boring and so mylot activity has shot up, i've sent emails to people i haven't contacted in ages and everything around me is incredibly tidy.

As I get older I'm starting to lose things more and this is distracting to say the least! But it's great when I find them again, I just have to figure why I was looking for them in first place! tdemex

Hi jb, when it's something I know I ought to do, rather than have to do this second, but it seems boring, then it's not that I'm easily distracted not to do it. I know the whole time that I ought to do it, in another hour. Then in another hour. When I get back. Well I ought to do it tomorrow then. Oops that was a week ago, and it still seems boringso maybe I'll just do it in one more hour.

Most excellent motto to have jb. Here we have the simple saying 'methavrio' which means the day after tomorrow, which never comes. Well it will do one day but no one said next year, but in my case it usually turns out to be two weeks late at 8am on a Sunday morning when the guy who promised to look at your grouting finally turns up but I'm not allowed to complain as he's fitting me in for free.

yeah, i can be sometimes... when i have something i need to get done.. suddenly other things seem to pop up and i feel like need to them lol but i'm not like that all the time. sometimes i can just get it done without being distracted i think it just depends on my mood, if i'm feeling lazy or how bored i was to begin with lol

it's not so much laziness with me it's how interested i am in what needs doing. if it's difficult or hard work and interesting to me then nothing really distracts me.

I am not easily distracted, but I DO procrastinate terribly. I have never handed in a term paper that wasn't written and researched entirely the night and morning before it was due. (Always got A's somehow though!) I procrastinate o doing laundry and starting dinner and making doctor's appointments and dealing with pretty much anything I do not want to or am afraid of dealing with. Funny thing is, despite my procrastination, I am always very prompt, I do not like to ever be late showing up someplace where I am supposed to be.

Hi jb, It depends on what i am doing and how important the thing is? When the thing i am doing are very important and needed to be focused on, i am not ealily distracted. In contrast, i am easily distracted. And sometime, i do two things at the same time. I always do my jobs and do some readings while i am listening music. Do you do that? Happy mylotting!

Hi jb, Additionally, i also consider that we are unnecessary to focus on everything or assignment. And if we do that, we may be exhausted.

what does distract you?
18 Aug 09
All the time. Whenever I have a job which I know will take some time and that I really don't want to do not only will I put off starting it but I will find anything to distract me whilst doing it, usually some rubbish on TV. I now have to be very strict with myself and try and break the job down into bearable chunks so that it doesn't feel such a slog to do and doesn't demand my attention span for too long in one go.

What? Oh, were you talking to me?? LOL. Not so much easily distracted as interrupted by others far too often. But yes, sometimes I deliberately allow myself to be distracted away from something I dread doing! Karen

I think I’m easy to be distracted. Sometimes when I’m doing one job, then before I realised I was distracted by another job, so I sometimes feel difficult to meet the deadline. Also when I drove my car I was very nervous, later I don’t know what happened I was distracted or I thought something else. I know my disadvantage on this so I don’t want to drive.
