Well core2duo is the most latest version for normal desktop computers.. latest processor is : Intel® Core™ i7-965 processor Extreme Edition which is almost 3 times faster than core2duo and in core2duo series : Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E8600 (6M Cache, 3.33 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB) and mostly used processor is E6600.. I don't know much about AMD processors..

I think core2duo is better than dual-core.but still we have one processor in pentium dual core which can thrash all the current core2duo lineup if overclocked.ITs e5200 it comes with a less cache but the advantage is its 12.5 multiplier.

My friend as far as i know the latest from intel is intel xenon which is a quad core processor. they are very good and also stable so if you are planning to buy a new one i think this is the one you should go for . I have a Core 2 Duo and it is giving me an amazing performance, and i will def. like to mention that the processor does not have any heating problem. i mean my computers runs for almost 15 to 18 hours a day and still there is no problem with the same.

as regards processor which they have 2 cores so the core 2 duo will eb the latest but now intel will develop also multi cores and core quadro processors so intel core quadro extreme and the i7 for desktop are the latest processors available for desktops or laptops;even if i7 is available only for desktop...

Core 2 Duo is the latest one that was just updated. Pentium Dual-Core is less powerful and lacks many features that most processors have. However, the Intel Core i7 and Core 2 Quad are the latest and fastest processors out there.

Hai, Core2Duo is the latest one, among Core2Duo and Dual Core... But the most recent one available is QuadCore processors. Dual cores are models like Celeron processors. Which are having less features than the Core2Duo processors. Regards, Reyas
