yes its very weird to drive an automatic, when i turned 16 i got my first car and it was manual and ive been driving the same car for 3 years now and i drive almost every day, my friends think im weird when i tell them im not comfortable driving automatic and one time i drove my friends auto car and i kept braking hard cause i thought the brake was the clutch

I can't drive a stick but I've always wanted to learn. My grandmother used to tell me that I should know how to drive one in case there was an emergency and I had to drive one. I haven't had the chance to learn yet though. I'm afraid to practice on someone's car and do harm to it. Hopefully one day I'll get the chance to learn. Although it hasn't come up so far that I needed to drive one.

I dont know how to drive a shift but I would like to learn but I dont know how I would since I would have to buy a car with a stick. Which my parents probably wouldnt want to get one. But it dosnt really matter since I like driving automatic it seems a lot easier then driving a stick.

My stepdad is teaching me to drive his stick shift and he says that I am picking it up quite fast. I learned so that I can drive the manual car in case something happens to the other family car.

hey there. I have only ever learnt to drive a manual car. Here in the UK everyone, well most people, when they learn to drive will drive a manual. I think the majority of cars are manual over here. I think it is really easy to learn how to drive a manual car but this is from memory as it was over 15 years ago now that I was a learner. Back then the test was so simple and we didnt have to sit a theory test either! My test consisted of driving around the block and a few questions about the highway code. It lasted 20 mins in all! I have driven an automatic car once in America and it felt very strange at first. I would like to have an automatic car now as I have become disabled and it would be a lot easier for me.

I learned to drive stick because I had to purchase a new car and wanted the cheapest possible thing I could find. Needless to say, going with a manual was cheaper than an automatic. So my dad taught me how to drive it, and I learned in about a week. I will confess though, I am still not too fond of steep hills! I will usually avoid them at all costs.

i was afraid of steep hills too but i found a way of not rolling backwards, when up hill ill be in 1st with my foot on the brake and clutch in, ill then pull up the hand brake while my foot is still on the clutch and foot brake, ill let go of the foot brake so the hand brake holds up the car and i slowly let go of the clutch until i can feel the car move then i let go of the handbrake and accelerate normally
