Hi Vijay. The things I do to gain peace of mind when it is in turmoil are to pray, read the Bible, or write it out in my journal. I might also talk to a friend or loved one, or hug one of my grandbabies. Another good help is to go outside and just enjoy nature!

Hi Ckyera. I think journaling helps get worries and stress from inside our heads and onto the paper. There is just something very therapeutic about the whole process.
Have a beautiful weekend.

Well the only way I think to find peace of mind is to let go of all those comforts. We get used to this things and then in really rough times when they are stripped away we are found helpless. We can no longer just find comfort in other people or in our selves. So many escapes anymore. I find peace when I start to simplify my life. Find peace in the simplest thing and that peace can not become complicated.

If it is work related stress then I do nothing about it.It will be over once that piece of work is done.If it is apersonal issue and depends on some interpersonal interaction, I would wail and would keep talking about it.If it is some abstract fear , prayer is the only remedy.
I wrote a long comment to your discussion on changing the nature of one's spouse.[a second response to your comment].I do not know if you have seen it.

Peace of miond is not such an easy thing to get ....actually peace gets lost due to all work tensions, children studies, their future, their health etc...and there is no life without all these worries...but still while tackling all the problems...we can keep ourselves at peace by not getting too much affected by problems...and solving them with big heart..and to atain peace..Yoga also helps to a great extent...it makes you strong mentally as well as physically.

About 30 deep breaths. Thereafter an attempt at singing some of the difficult songs of Lata Mangeshkar, Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Asha Bhosle, or Sunidhi Chauhan bring me out of my blues and make me happier. I think it is the concentration to get some note to perfection, which I am sure is never perfect as I am not trained, but still to a maximum level that satisfies me, that makes me feel good, and all other problems seem to lose importance in front of it. I dont think it can be called meditation. But it does help me. :-)

I usualy go to a place where its quiet and I can see the stars at night and then I will lie down on grass and seeing the stars. It will make my mind at peace when I see the stars, because some of them are bigger then the earth. My stressfull mind is nothing compared of the vast universe.I will be the happy if I bring my girl and talk with her under the starry night. It will make anyone feels calm, trust me.Weather the place is up on a building or your back yard.

We can only have peace of mind when we don't think negatively. Me, when I want to have a peace of mind I go to Adoration Chapel besides our church. I pray there. BEcause the place is very silent and the place is for prayer, very solemn, I can talk to God and I can hear his response. I just ask him to give me peace of mind. I believe that God is listening and he will give it if we just ask him to help us. Yes, he give it to me everytime I ask it. For me to have a peace of mind, I have to change my inner self before my external, because thoughts creates action and action creates results.

Hi vijayanths, I find that peace of mind can only come by going within. Nothing outside of ourselves can give us that peace. Meditation or just going into the silence will usually put us in touch with our higher self and bring the peace that we seek. Blessings.

hello vijayanths!
when i feel that i am stressed, what i do is take a bath and let the water wash away the bad feelings...after that i feel a little relief, then i feel refreshed...after that i stay in a quite place alone and sigh! during those quite moments, i give myself a chance to talk to my God...talking to Him gives me the comfort that i am wishing for and whenever i feel His power on me...then i find the peace of mind that i want...the conviction that God is with me is more than enough to keep my mind at peace!
have a wonderful day vijayanths!

A fast-paced life is very stressful. It always feels that there is a timetable in every thing you do. Sometimes, your body cannot adjust to it, therefore giving you a lot of stress. There is only one best management to it, and that is to slow down. Try to smell the roses and feel the benefits that your every day life brings. Yes, life could be too short for your to waste your life, but it is in the same manner that life is too short for you to enjoy it. So, slow down.

Hello Vijay,
Some people and everyone has ways to unwind, and find solace accordingly to their choices and standard of living.
Maybe they find peace in some peaceful places,in their rooms, listening to music or just being alone.
But the real essence of peace of mind is not a 2 days vacation,or moment of relaxation. It is something that can be felt,in every second of the day,an assurance in our everyday life.
A feeling of contentment,an assurance that, any moment i can die without fear,i can die and leave my children without any fear what they will become without me.
That i can sleep without thinking the next sunrise, becoz,i know i always live my life as if there is no tomorrow.

Yes there is too much of stress in our lives that sometimes the world comes crashing down to you. I am very particular of having a me-time where I unwind myself. There are too many unavoidable and irritationg stuff going on around me, and sometimes I get all sucked up. It is then that I go out of the home, preferably a park or somewhere where I could see a lot of green. Listening to soft and soothing music also helps a lot. Thinking of the good and best things which had happened to me in my life also work wonders sometimes.

It is easy to get peace of mind. Sit for few minutes or hour near by sea area or place you like the most and just breath calmly. Another option is listen to soothing music.

I don't like stress myself and I'm not too keen on the big city! I don't like the idea of this so called rat race either where everyone seems to be rushing around to get from a to b! I don't have any time for that in my life! Instead I much prefer the countryside! Where I live I have one row of houses behind me and then it's nothing but pure unadulterated countryside! I love cycling and this helps me to relax especially when I am out cycling in the countryside. I also love to read and this helps me to relax! Reading is a great form of escapism and I try to escape the world of reality as often as I can! Don't get me wrong though! I am sane and level headed! I used to meditate as well but sadly I have given this up, I'm thinking that I should travel down that path once more! Andrew

I usually go into my bedroom, put a ocean waves CD in my CD player and meditate. It helps me to clear all the stress and bad thoughts from my head. Taking a nice warm shower also helps me release the stress and forget about my worries.

This may sound a touch odd but being here has given me a piece of mind! My main stress causing issue (at the moment) is boredom and thinking too much, but by being online and reading and replying to discussions here, I am able to distract myself completely, and just relax and get in the zone. If I wasn't one here and wanted piece of mind I would probably write something while sat in the sun (if it was sunny) or maybe read while in the sun. Being in silence though has never worked for me, I think too much in silence and get stressed!
