Do you call them Underwear? or do you call them Panties?

What do you call your under garment? Panties are supposed to be the more girlie variation of underwear I suppose. I call them both, but I think of panties being nicer undies, you know something really feminine & pretty. Not your 6pack of undies or lil undies with a funny pic/saying/ print on them.

Mine have always been panties. Even though I'm older now and wear grandma-type briefs, they're still panties! I try to get them in pretty colors with some lace on them but it's hard to find nice briefs, they save all the pretty stuff for thongs and bikinis and the like.

You are right they don't make many frilly granny panties out there are there? Unless you buy some fancy lace ones are all that I can recall.

Capsicum, I'm at the point (55, divorced) where I couldn't care less about what men think of my panties. To be truthful, I'm glad to be done with men. But I still like to feel feminine and frilly, what's with that?!
I've never heard anything but laughter at granny briefs. Nice to know there's some men who appreciate function with beauty.

I always call them underwear no matter what. I don't know why, but I refuse to call them panties. I guess I just hate the word. Don't ask me why, though cuz I have no idea. I have a friend who has a little boy and she tends to call his underwear panties. I don't get why because to me, panties are women's underwear.

Yeah I don't understand why she would call them panties for a boy either. Panties are female undies in my book too.

I have always called my under wear knickers where as other people who are my posh friends call them briefs just like they do in a book.My friends just call their thongs cheese graters as how sore they can get if they pull them up at the same time as pulling their jeans up.

*LOL* @ Cheese graters! Yea I suppose I can equate that feeling to that style of undies.... I don't wear those too much anymore especially since having kids and such plus it was just for a reaction from hubby.

I generally refer to womens' as panties, and men's as underwear. I don't know precisly why, maybe i just think panties is a much more femine sounding term. Underwear just sounds so blah and boring and unsexy!

True but if you wear boring cotton undies I don't think they qualify as sexy unless they are a cotton thong.

i call them underwear. I guess panties does make you think of nicer undies but mine is just plain cotton anyways so I just call them underwear

I agree cotton would bring to mind them being just underwear rather than panties.
