The future of blogging in the Philippines?

Philippines
August 18, 2009 7:05pm CST
I have been blogging for 2 years, and I saw the rise of so many Filipino-made blogs. Different organizations were also born which means blogging in the Philippines is really getting popular. I can see that sooner or later, blogging in our country will be a normal way of living just like using cellphones which they thought that it is only for businessmen and the elite. What do you think? Incidentally, I have a video at You Tube on my blog. It was actually my speech when I was chosen as one of the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs for 2009. Here is the link - http://fatherblogger.com/2009/08/14/father-blogger-on-you-tube-how-to-be-an-influential-blogger/ Hope you will be inspired and learn something somehow. Thanks!

Filipinos are always good in terms of technology and english skills. if you will combine those then we can produce good blogs that can be globally recognized. I think there should be a blogger unity group that no matter how small or big you are, you are still accepted.

Thank you very much, Jena. I am so glad to hear that. It's really my passion to inspire fellow parents and I think I will not stop doing it. I dedicate that award not only to parents but also to those who have been supporting me all the way, and they already know who they are. Regards.

Blogging is becoming a way of life. My partner is a ghost writer for several sites, and maintains a couple of his own as well. He is doing quite well, and it has become his primary income. I blog too, though mine is a hobby. My content is more personal and keeps family and friends upto date with our brood. Not the kind of stuff that is going to earn an income, but it is helping me to keep skills sharp and I am having fun learning along the way. I believe that you and my partner are frequent visitors to each other, which just goes to show how big blogging really is these days. If more stay at home parents got into blogging, especially with the intentions of earning from it, then they would have the ultimate balance between raising a family and having a career.

blogging will go a long way in the philippines because filipinos are naturally chatty and are opinionated about so many things. i have been blogging for around 5 yrs now and i'm still at it. it's my little sanctuary where i formulate my own thoughts and my voice is heard when people read my blog. you can visit me at www.onmylefthandcorner.blogspot.com

I do agree with you that Filipino bloggers will continue to rise in the coming years. I have noted that many Filipinos are learning and are starting their own blogs. More than that, they have started to learn how to earn online from their blogs. I have visited the url that you have given. It was great, you are truly and inspiration. Congratulations!

Congratulations with that! I have honestly not been able to read your blog yet but its quite 'out there', in a manner of speaking.^_^ Well, Ive been contemplating on starting a blog for more than a year now but I dont want to start a blog just for the sake of starting a blog. Kinda like in earning online or with anything really. I have a habit of researching first and learn everything I can about the topic or at least the basic knowledge so as to be able to start it. I understand that if I want to have a blog, I also have to learn SEO and other things that entails maintaining a blog. The thing is that I really do not have that much time to learn at this time. I already have a backlog of projects with deadlines fast approaching. Anyways, when the day comes that I do start a blog, Ill look to your experience as reference. Thanks for sharing this with all of us.

Wow, congratulations! I wish I'll have time later tonight to check the vid... I started a blog but can't seem to make up my mind what to write about, it's almost pathetic . Definitely have to put in a lot of time and effort to make something of a blog that is note worthy. Again, congratulations!

Blogging is good.Ü If it does become the next big thing in the Philippines in the nearer future, I think it will motivate a lot of Filipinos to write, to share thoughts & ideas, to continue learning from the experiences of fellow people who blog - we just have to do it responsibly ... and in the process we develop this kind of attitude wherein we respect other people's opinions especially if they're not the same as hours. I think it would be awesome if more Filipinos would blog. Blogs are just one of the most powerful media right now.

Wow, that sounds like a pretty prestigious award. Congratulations to you! I was just reading a blog from the Philippines yesterday, trying to get some information on traveling to the country. In our country, cell phones and the internet were first only used by businesses as well. Whereas, now even little kids have them. :) Good luck to you!
