Every organ has its purpose. If you lose your brain, you die. If you lose your heart, you die. If you lose your lungs, you die. You can lose your appendix, your spleen, a piece of your liver. But if you lose too much, your body cannot function.
Or do you mean "soul," or "spirit?" I don't think that resides in the organs. I know there are ancient traditions stating that it's in your heart or liver or other some physical place, but I don't think such a thing is in the physical plane of existence.
If you meant something else, let me know, and I will elaborate, if I can.
