How do you earn from a blog?

I have read some articles by people who said that earning from a blog is a good thing but I am wondering how it works. I am not really good in writing but I started my own blog. They say that you have to link your blog with google adsense. Well, I did it. But what is next? Can somebody tell me how it all works? How do you earn from a blog?
