A Doula is a trained person who assists a pregnant woman during and after childbirth with one-to-one continuous care using specific skills and techniques. Back in the 1970s, a Doula was commonly called a "labor coach".

Just to let everyone know, I hired a Doula when my son was born 17 months ago. She was the best thing we could have done during my childbirth. She stayed with us the whole 18 hours of labor. I definitley recommend one, especially first time mothers. You need more support from someone that know what there doing.
