Would you pay for Cable TV or Satellite TV and never watch TV?
Would you pay for your neighbors TV bill but never go over to watch your neighbors TV?
What about paying for a car that you will never see nor drive?
What about paying for a house that you will never see nor live in?
I could go on and on, but I am getting at something. Do you enjoy paying for someone else's stuff even though you receive none of the benefit from it?

Are you talking about people on benefeits?
It depends on the situation really, if it were someone really hard off then i wouldnt begrudge giving them a bit of help but if they had just as much money as i do then why should i pay for it? Let them pay for it themselves.

Ofcourse NO! For what? No one in this world would ever pay for such amount on services or products that you have used or get any benefits from those things. It's just a waste of money so to speak. Nowadays especially at times of crisis where financial resources are unstable, we should save a lot and manage what we have.

I would help out someone who needs it, like for instance donating money to help the poor through offerings at church because then I might need that help myself later on. As got paying for a neighbor's luxury time and for some, cable Tv and satellitetv is a luxury, no. As for an example, about for medical insurance, if it is not the same all over the country, that is if the states or the province can choose what they can cover, then it would be all right to pay for it because in the future we all might need help. So supposing you have a heart attack, but someone else gets in an accident and breaks their neck, someone gets diabetes, etc. and someone just sprains their ankle. The money put into a medical insurance program would ensure no one gets kicked out on the street. However a single payer across the board is not the way to go.
So there are things that you will probably use, but you should not pay for something you will never ever use.

I would never do something like that. I cannot afford to do it for one. I would have to have some use of something before I would make payments on it. I would help someone out if I could afford to though.

No - as of now - definitely no. I noticed one aspect of it. If u try to help somebody u know, unwittingly u try to ask some favor of them. Under normal circumstances, they might refuse or do it casually. But since they feel obliged to u because u paid their TV bill, they feel a compulsion to do it against their will. This leads to resentment on their part. And if they do refuse, we feel that they are being ungrateful. Such obligations in my opinion are stepping stones for breaking down the friendship. Any obligations should be such that there are no further expectations. Practically, this does not happen. So helping out another known person like a neighbor, I dont think so. However, if any help was to be given to some charitable institue - I think I would be more open to it, provided I had the required funds. As of now, I dont.

It doesnt really bother me paying for someone elses things when only they get the benefit out of it. If its someone like a family member then i see it as doing them a tremendous favor and im sure in the long run if you ever need something they will be ther for you..but if its just a friend then damn thats just a mooch.

I would pay if my family is the one using it or consuming it. It is part of our pay list. Well if my neigbors watch in our tv set, then go on as long as he or she is not watching the rest of the day. Paying a car that i never see nor drive?? A ghost car? Well if that is not mine why should I? Unless I gave it to my loved ones as a gift. It depends...

I don't know why I would pay for my neighbor's cable but not watch it. If it's something that others benefit from like sponsoring a child in Africa so she/he could have clean water, I would do it even if it doesn't benefit me but I wouldn't pay for neigbor's cable

It happened to me. I have purchased DTH service. I like watching cricket matches. Three moths back there was a IPL matches. I subscribed to sports channel. But unfortunately i was rostered in my company such away that i was not even watched single match in my room.
Similar thing happened to one movie channel. I subscribed for one month. In that month i never watched any movie. It pains when we pay and not getting anything from it.

I would pay for someone else if it were someone that I cared about yes. For example if I were to pay for my mum and dads Sky subscription I'd be happy to do so because I love them and they have done so much for me too. I don't think I'd be happy doing a lot of other things for other people though. Earning money is hard work!

I depends on in what sense you are talking about. If it was a close friend or family member, i would help them out if i could. Such as my brother. I am helping him to purchase a car right now, that i might never drive (well i might..if i decide to go for my license again) but it willbe his car, though i will be getting some benefit out of it as he lives with me and will be able to take me places in it)
Otherwise, if i didn't know the person at all, i think i would have a hard time with it. At least in the financial situation i am in now. If i were very rich for some reason, i would maybe see it as a community service to help those in need and would have no problem. But as it is, i have a hard enough time paying my bills, let alone those of anyone else.

I think to some extent we are all guilty of doing this. For example, we have a subscription to a video game service. We've had it for a couple of years, but we always forget to download the game that we are paying for monthly. We also pay for the higher numbered cable channels of which we only use a few of them.
Of course, I've also helped my friends pay some of their bills from time to time even though I wouldn't go to their house to use the service for which I helped them out with.

I think there is something to be said for giving to others. If it was something that someone needed or that would bring them happiness and it was something that I could afford to do for them, why not. It would make me feel good to help that person or know that I gave them some happiness.
