I had to laugh this afternoon when I saw the front page headlline on MSN.com "Michelle Obama's Shorts Controversy". Seriously?! Does our country have nothing better to report on then what Michelle is wearing? Don't get me wrong...I love the Obama family and sometimes she has incredible fashion sense that should be shown off. However, in this instance, she is a mom on vacation with her husband and kids in the hot Arizona desert to see the Grand Canyon. What do you want her to wear a dress, heels and pantyhose?! Is the media insane?! The last thing Michelle Obama needs is fashion advice from the media and frankly kudos to her for not being afraid to show off her body. Here's to the First Lady! May we all remember that no matter how big or small, in the end, we are all still human, even the Obamas.

Wow, that is crazy that the media would report on that. Like oh wow michelle obama is being a normal person and wear shorts. It is true things to be better reported on besides michelle obama wearing shorts. I mean I not trying to be mean or anything and I don't think I am being mean, but who really cares that she's wearing shorts. Report something more interesting.

I completely agree with you. I have the same feeling as you have. Instead of being the first lady, she has all rights of a human being and media should concentrate on other important news than this kind of gosspis and issues. I appreciate Mischelle Obama for being herself and doing whatever she wants not caring about anything.

Herein lies the problem with the American media service. Whenever there is something going on that the government would like swept under the rug (currently, the health care reform issue, the free internet issue, what the heck ever they want to call what's happening in the Middle East) they distract us with Michelle Obama's shorts. Or Britney Spears' underwear (or lack thereof) or whatever other trivial nonsense they can find to wave under our noses because they know that at least 75% of the people reading the news will be distracted by these things. We are easily distracted whether we want to admit it or not.

I guess people have nothing better to do then talk about what Michell Obama is wearing. That has to mean they are bored out of their minds. I think they have to find whatever thay can to put a negative spin on it when it comes to the Obamas. They don't realize that normal people with a brain call this type of behavior stupidty.

In all honesty that is what the public actually wants to hear believe it or not. The thing with people blame the media but the media is only really going to push what is going to get them viewers and society has shown to want to know everything about everyone - and just personal stuff. Its the same reason why celebrities are overdone and how we're still hearing about Michael Jackson when it should be stopped.
The thing is I would rather not hear people complain about when they say something bad about what's she is wearing and then want them to take about her good fashion sense. You get one or the other.

Ur definitely correct about that we are all just but human... and human has the right to do wear something.. right?!

I heard just a little bit of this story this morning so I wasn't sure exactly what it was about. That is so ridiculous that they are making a big deal out of it. It isn't like she was wearing booty shorts and a tube top! Lets see them wear pants suits or something dressy in 110 degree weather. Its not like she was at an important event, she was on vacation with her family. It is just stupid and sad how they keep trying to tear them down.

Ya, the media always seems to focus on minute things. In my opinion, their main focus is to present the public with info that they hope will elicit a reaction and not to actually inform the public of things we need to know. Michelle Obama wears shorts, Britney Spears lost weight, all things which give some people something to talk about. And often for some groups of consumers these things are more attention grabbing then where we are with the war and other pieces of "real news" but this is just one person's opinion.

Leaders of countries should always dress and carry themselves with dignity. Why? They represent the country as a whole. You want to wear XXL Hanes sweat pants then by all means do so. That's the problem with this country. We dress like slobs and say its human. No, dress nice, stop being trash. Comb your kids hair. Its not that hard.

I don't see anything wrong with Michelle wearing a pair of shorts on vacation.hello, why would you wear a cocktail dress when you visit Arizona?I will actually react badly if she actually did it.maybe these press are jealous of how hot her body is.her body is real.kudos to Michelle for celebrating her real, natural, womanly body.

I echo the same sentiments..Its her life and leisure time and she can spend it whichever way she wants and wearing anything she wants during her private time.

I had the same reaction - I can't believe people are obsessing over Michelle Obama wearing shorts! She is at the Grand Canyon enjoying leisure time - I just don't understand what all the talk is about. I give her alot of credit for bringing the white house up to the times - she is a real woman, a wife, mom, and career woman and I think she carries herself with poise and has good taste. Good for her!

Yes the reporters around the world look for all these kind of news just to get more publicity for their newspapers and websites. They do not care about the personal lives of the people. I mean even Michelle Obama will not be liking this either. But you told correctly "we all are humans". Media should understand that what news should be published and which should not be published. Media has an important role in the development of any country and they have to play this role sensibly.
