Hey Opal here! I got an outrageous long awaited Boom Box
today and am trying to mylot and listen to music at the
same time. But, I am having a problem, I think! I am listening
to some "oldies" (old music I just got on CD's) and I can't
seem to concentrate and sing at the same time! Does anyone
else have this problem or is it just that I can't chew gum
and sing at the same time? Oh, you know what I mean!

I can't concentrate on just watching the TV. I have to be doing something else, usually cross-stitch but have been on the computer, too.

Lol yes I do as I would type the words I am singing lol
I actually prefer peace when I am on my laptop lol but then I have always preferred the quiet which used to be hard years ago when the Kids had Competitions, whose Stereo could play the loudest lol , it used to drive me mad lol

Quite often for me, what i'm listening to, somehow, "bleeds" into my postings when i do MyLot & listen to music at the same time.
I guess you say
What can make me feel this way
Oopsie - did I just jump-start a song annoyingly playing in your head?
If I had started this post around a half a minute sooner, I'd be mentioning something about sunshine on a cloudy day ...

Well - speaking of Led Zeppelin, it's Robert Plant's 61st birthday tomorrow (as of this posting), on August 20.

I know what you mean, and I am one of those old fuddy duddies who believes that music is for one's full attention and not a background to other activities, unless it is soft piano playing at a fine restaurant, or something of that natures. I don't think I can sing and myLot at the same time. I know that I cannot play the piano and myLot at the same time, but how about singing and playing the piano?

LOL I know what you mean. When I come to mylot I have trouble at time concentrating not because of music but, I may have the television and children on while mylotting. I can't seem to type and listen to children telling me things at the same time. So I doubt I could sing and mylot either

Oh, how I miss having cats. The dog can't feed himself and if he tried he would eat out of the trash LOL The chickens, ducks and geese don't have arms so they don't feed themselves either. If you use dry cat food you could get those self-feeders and then you wouldn't have to do it as often LOL

If it was music that I really had to sing along with and from the past where I could remember the colour of the dress that I was wearing then a big fat NO. I couldn't respond to mylot and listen at the same time. I would be singing along with the music. I love listening to Oldies in my car and I sing and sing like I was a kid again. It is so much fun. I do keep a radio on in my office but it is usually tuned to a chat show or something. I do like some background noise in the office but I don;t often really listen to it except for a news broadcast etc. Yep, I have that sickness too.

Hey cyn! When I started out I was singing to the songs and I
just couldn't concentrate on mylotting! I can't sing to the
songs that I haven't heard from Crosby, Stills and Nash for
a long time and mylot! But, now I have Michael Jackson on so
my mood is different and I can mylot because I can dance in
my chair and type at the same time! Just can't sing and type~

I can sing or listen to music and mylot, but I get distracted when my son is playing games on the next computer or listening to something I have not chosen. Make it really interesting, and put my hubby watching television in the next room. Aargh!!

Hi Gerty! I can't even concentrate sometimes if the tv is
on in the livingroom and it's something that I want to hear!
I have to totally block out everything if I am doing something
like mylotting! I really take it seriously when I respond!
Even if it is a silly discussion!

Hi Opal! it is so lovely to see you around again...I like to listen to music whilst mylotting it relaxes me and even helps me to answer discussions, guess it is much like having the TV on as background noise when mylotting a lot of people have that on too. I wouldn't say it is the fact you cant do two things at once it is you just get wrapped up with one of them at a certain time and it is your music with you especially if one of your favourite songs come on! lol hugs LoLo

Hi littleowl! Great to see you too! That's the problem! I
am an avid music lover and these were CD's that I just bought
that were from groups that I had vinyl records of years ago!
So I was so enjoying them because I hadn't heard them for
so long that I just couldn't mylot! Now it's late so I had
to turn them off! I'll listen again tomorrow when I'm not
mylotting!

hi opal I use headphones and listen to mozart while I'
mylot and have no problems as the music soothes my
nerves as I type. I dont sing but I love to listen and 'I love to
mylot at the same time. I cannot sneeze and walk at the
same time, does that count? he he.

I have that problem once in awhile. It depends on which I'm paying more attention to. Sometimes my mind is more on the music, other times it's on something else and my favorite song will have played and ended and I didn't notice!

I think i can write on MyLot and hear music at the same time since I am hearing "Stairway to heaven", great song, while i write this reponce. But I can't be concentrated at both things. I think i could not sing and write here at the same time. Also i don't think i can sing and chew gum at the same time, since it would sound horrible, haha. I think it would be impossible to hear to the music with headphones and write here at the same time. Have a nice day!

Yes I would actually prefer to do it like this because I love listening to music because it keeps everything in rhythm. It also keeps my mind going and helps me to stay entertained if I do happen to get bored. It definitely helps typing and doing online work move along smoothly and easily.

Hiya Opal...well I do listen to my radio while mylotting and usually rock, and then when I'm writing articles have classical music on, but I always have the volume on kind of low otherwise it is a distraction...right now I don't even have the radio on and am typing in blissful silence save for the rattling of the keys as I type....

Hey pye! I changed the music so that I could dance in my seat
instead of singing and now it is working out better! Except
that I am hotter than hell! But, I'm getting a great workout
at the same time! So this might just work out better for me!
Sweating, typing and dancing and mylotting at the same time!
Maybe I might lose a quarter of a pound? Maybe if I keep it
up for a few hours!

I often listen to music or tv while mylotting...especially when dancing with the stars is on. I have it on in the other bedroom and listen for when the dance begins as I don't need to listen to all the other crap inbetween dancers! LOL....and I do listen to music and sing sometimes while I am here....woo hoo! The best of both worlds!

Hey jill! It's great if your brain works well that way! I
was having trouble singing and mylotting! I was so busy
singing that I couldn't type my responses correctly! Now
I finally decided it was late and I'd better give the neighbors
a break! So you have my undivided attention!

Usually when I mylot, I'll like to play a video or listen to some music but it makes it hard to concentrate on the topic I'm posting to. Sometimes when I watch a movie, I get so engrossed into the story that I have no idea what I'm writing about on mylot anymore. Even if it's only music, I lose focus on mylot when I listen to the lyrics.

I love to listen to music on my laptop no matter what I'm doing, except studying. I find it more exciting when I am listening to music while doing anything. It pumps me up. I usually listen to music when I'm playing games on the computer, getting ready to go out, or doing research. Otherwise, it's just boring sitting here on the computer by myself. It's like extra company and sometimes I even find myself singing along like I'm in Hollywood, or even just out of it, listening.
