Not offering anyone that kind of money, but Im more than interested in the possible answers.
If you were offered 50,000 dollars for never playing a videogame ever again - would you take it, bear in mind, no games - no solitaire, no world of warcraft, no counter strike, no flash games, nothing...
But in return, you would get 50000 dollars to your bank account.
Bear in mind, that you wouldn't be able to cheat the system by sneaking into playing games - you simply wouldn't be able to.

I would not do this. I love to play games and find them to be very amusing. If this was offered to just a handful of people, I feel it would really effect the gaming industry. As many gamers have more then one game system, and more then one favorite genre.
I would much rather be PAID that money to PLAY games, then to forfeit playing games.

I love playing video games, and it's almost part of my daily routine. There are only a few things I could do that would fill in that void. Even though not playing games anymore would save me a ton of money in having to buy games, consoles, and accessories, I think $50,000 is simply not enough to get me to stop playing. If I got, say, at least $500,000, then yeah, I'll most likely take the deal.

I kinda was hoping to get such a response. As a true player would not settle with a temporary payment which isn't even that big of an amount, to change one's life for good. Although 500 000 dollars would sound a bit better, but still not sure whether I'd go for that amount either.

I don't play online games, and I barely even play my video games although I have many. So I would definitely take the 50k! Are board games allowed though? I think I would be fine with playing Monopoly and Pretty Pretty Princess.

So you are willing to spend your rest of your life, with the knowing, that you will never get to play any computer game you might ever see or want to try - just for a measly 50 thousand dollars which you will have spent in a short time.
As you cannot pay the money back later, in hopes, that you would get the right to play again.

This is definitely an interesting discussion and I give you kudos on coming up with the idea that no one else would probably come up with, and when it comes to the question at hand if someone was offering me 50,000 dollars to give up gaming I would turn them down because I like video games too much to give them up and I do not know where I would be without the games, even though if it was 50,000 a day I would probably consider it because that would be a lot of money for mine and my wives live and I could always find a new hobby.

The amount is not attractive enough for me to quit gaming. The given amount can be spent quickly, its not worth it to quit gaming, even those simple flash games. Although I can still do many things like playing guitar, jogging, swimming, reading, I won't consider it a great deal unless the given amount is enough for the rest of my life :P

Nope, I wouldn't take the money! I love playing puzlle and adventure games, such as Mystery Case Files. And I did try my share of MMORPGs out of which i picked my favorite one. I like playing, it unwinds me, plus, I use it as study.
I finished architecture, but I like graphic art and right now I'm learning to model 3d characters. So ...no, I like every aspect of video games and would never let them go.
Besides that, I think I can make those money in one year, so no loss there either.

I have would take 50000 bucks for not playing games. I have been playing an online game travian for a long time now and I saw decline in my productive thus decline in my income so ultimately when I found that it is effecting my paychecks, I decided not to play it again and I quit it and joined mylot so that I can use the time that I spent on that stupid game to cash it out here on mylot.

I'm sorry, but saying that to a game addict like me would be like ripping out my heart or taking my liver for 50 grande.
No, I absolutely will not do it for 50,000 because the only way, these days, that I'm entertained is by playing games. So, if I did take the 50k then I would be a little rich but I will end up a very bored person and seek no other meaning to life. Stress will build up and I will be destroyed.
My conclusion: I will not stop playing games, no matter how much the sum of money offered to me is, I simply just can't live without games.
I'm pretty sure it's the same for many of the young people here.
