Have you Faced any devastating earth quick in your life ?

Last Night a little eartquick recorded in our town. it was a normal eartquick of 3.23 rectar scale and last for 10 seconds. it was not to scary. but i have faced a devastating earthquick in my life 15 years ago. at that time i was a little boy. one day when i came back from school and had my launch. my mother rushed inside my room and tried to grab me with her arms. she took me with her and run away outside the house. at that time i couldnt realize that the shaking of the floor and moving things are nothing but the force of eartquick . that earthquick recorded 7.40 recter scale. one of the portion of our roof broken down. my sister got injured in her hand. that day scared me so much. have you faced any situation like this ?

Yes I do faced an earthquake in my life where my chair starts moving but that was not that devastating and I pray to god that I will not face any such in my life.

Earthquakes are scary and dangerous but I haven't felt any. When I was little sometimes my mother would wake me up in the middle of the night and said there was a small earthquake but I would have already slept through it. I guess I'm a heavy sleeper.

The worst earthquake I experienced was in July 16, 1990 in the Philippines. The densely populated island of Luzon was struck with an intensity 7.8 earthquake. I was only 12 years old then and I just came back from school and went for a nap. I was awaken by the shaking and I felt my bed shaking and its as if my cabinet was about to fall on me. The shaking lasted for a few minutes. I didn't get too frightened as I knew that my mom was in the next room. After the earthquake, news of massive destruction flooded the television and radio and it was only then that I realized how frightening the event was. Many people were killed and millions of damages were recorded. I hope something like that never happens again.

Just last week we had a tremor in our city. It was around 1'o'clock in the midnight I felt i was being rocked as if i were in a cradle. I tried to wake up my daughter who was sleeping next to me saying do feel the shake. But she was fast asleep and blabbered-oh mom keep quiet. The next day morning news said that there was an earthquake in the city and many areas were badly affected.
I had the same experience before Chennai was struck by tsunami.It was early in the morning and i was in the toilet. I suddenly felt as if the toilet was in a slanted position. The moment i got out of the toilet i told my husband who replied that i was crazy.I am glad that i could share such an experience with my mylot friends.

I am sorry i thought the discussion was about experiencing earthquakes. Luckily i have not faced a devastating one.

my country is not near to any faults or near the place where two boundary plates meet, so we dont have earthquakes.
but then sometimes when neighbouring countries, when lies near to the fault, experience an eartquake, my country will be affected by tremors.
the strength and time of the tremors depend on how big the earthquake is and how far the epicenter is

I'm blessed in the sense that I have not faced any natural disasters.
I have however lost friends and family in the 9/11 attacks on the twin towers

I have not been through any kind of devastating earthquakes before either. We did have a measureable one in our area last year though. It scared alot of people because we had not felt one like that before.

I thank God for keeping my place free from earthquakes. Still I am praying that we are spared from all any natural disasters as we will never know anything can happen anywhere at anytime like the tsunami incident. I am sorry to hear that your place is hit by earthquake.

I haven't faced a devastating earth quake before. I have felt some minor tremors. I think the News said it was like around 2.0 to 3.0. So it didn't feel too bad. That's why I have an Emergency Preparedness Kit ready in case the big one does hit.
